like i kinda wanna dress alt but i can’t for a number of reasons & it feels so alienating - social anxiety (wow who knew) - no idea how to dress in my own distinct style & what to dress up in (not fitting into labels but like. finding something that works for me) - need to do at least light makeup without it looking like ASS - repressive ahh outside environment

i don’t like the weird exclusion that **SOME** parts of the alt fashion community has with ppl with social anxiety / anything else related to that . like yes I get the point for most subcultures is to stand out & it’s off to just say “I wanna dress [—] but I’m scared of ppl judging me!” but you can’t fix a literal mental disorder to fit into that . you can’t just be more confident overnight . and you can’t tell what kind of environment they live in because some places are really REALLY judgmental if you even dare to wear “emo 🥀” accessories
some alt subcultures are based on more lifestyle than clothes & that’s fine but if someone genuinely wants to get into that but is inhibited by ANYTHING related to mental health don’t just be snarky about it . it’s literally not that easy to unlearn that kinda stuff & im sick of people treating it like it is .
