Vik Veer - ENT Surgeon

UK first Genio Implant as a day case (patient has already gone home on the same day) performed today. See photo of the amazing team who helped me complete this operation. Apparently first in Europe - however we are checking this :)

The Genio implant is a small chip inserted just below the chin which stops the throat from closing up during sleep. It has been found to reduce sleep apnoea so patients don't have to use CPAP anymore.

this treatment is completely free on the NHS. All patients with moderate or severe sleep apnoea are allowed this treatment for free on the NHS. Come to Queen's hospital, Romford, Essex from anywhere in the country for your treatment.

Thank you for being so transparent. It's sometimes difficult for patients to get the right information about anything. I love that fact you inform people it can be received on the NHS. This should give hope to many, thank you.

@deepderp9957

Congratulations. This is promising. Does it work with all sleep disordered breathing? Such as UARS?

@jps4riv

I hope this helps the patient. I have Inspire. 3 years now. 90 percent of my appointments are canceled at the last minute. I am so heartbroken. I no longer have hope that I will finally get better sleep.

All of this is really great , but unfortunately the chances of benefiting from any of these advancements are pretty low , I was referred to the London sleep and snoring department where Dr Vic Veer practices two and a half years ago , and for two and a half years I have been begging and pleading with that department to put me forward to see Dr Veer , every appointment and every phone call begging and pleading with them to let me see him , What makes this even worse is that at the beginning of the two and a half year wait I paid to see Dr Veer privately, at which time he assured me that there was a procedure that he was able to perform that could fix my condition . It really sucks that all of these advancements and procedures are readily available , but actually getting to see him in order to take advantage of them is pretty much impossible .
