Far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir claimed Wednesday that Republicans support his call to bomb food and aid depots in the war-ravaged Gaza.
“I had the honor and privilege of meeting with senior Republican Party officials at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. They expressed support for my very clear position on how to act in Gaza and that the food and aid depots should be bombed in order to create military and political pressure to bring our hostages home safely,” Ben-Gvir said on X.
The extremist minister attended a dinner Tuesday evening at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, which was attended by Republican officials and businessmen.
Israeli media reported that Republican House Majority Whip Tom Emmer was among the attendees. There has been no immediate comment from the Republican Party regarding Ben-Gvir’s claim.
Ben-Gvir arrived in the US on Monday for his first official visit to Washington, DC since joining Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government in 2022.
He is scheduled to speak at Yale University today and will address a crowd in New York City next week.
