Album Review #1

Summer Walker · Finally Over It · 2025

• Favorite Songs - Number One, Finally Over It, Go Girl & Don’t Make Me Do It / Tempted
• Best Song - 1-800 Heartbreak
• Best Feature(s) - Brent Faiyaz, SAILORR, Doja Cat and Anderson .Paak
• Skips - 7 Skips
• Most Disappointing - Robbed You & Give Me A Reason (Feature Length). Lazy Vocals & Writing (Some songs sound like reference tracks). Too many featured tracks, not enough solo songs.

The Bad:

It’s finally here! The last album of Summer Walker’s "Over It" Trilogy. It’s definitely the weakest out of the 3 projects, and that’s ok. After being pushed back from last year’s release date, this album still doesn’t sound finished. A few of the songs sound like reference tracks or could’ve been left off entirely (Situationship, FMT & Stitch Me Up). Some of the song writing feels lazy, along with lazy vocals and songs feeling unfinished (had higher expectations with this being the finale). The "Bryson Tiller" & "Mariah the Scientist" features were missed opportunities with how short they are. I think the Tiller feature should’ve been placed in the middle of the track because Summer’s vocals started to drag out (the chorus + weak verse + beat drop took too long). The songs that are skips (quite a few), I don’t think I will be coming back for another attempt. There are too many featured tracks, and the standalone’s don’t hit hard enough to carry this album.

The Good:

Overall the album is pretty good. Starting off with "1-800 Heartbreak" stood out as the best song off of vibes alone (soft vocals, smooth chorus, track length). We finally got a few songs over 4 mins long! Track #6 (Disc 2) "Number One", was a breath of fresh air with the Brent Faiyaz feature. It felt like they were trying to channel that old school hip-hop / R&B feel and they didn’t disappoint. This isn’t a knock, but the only song that had a "Summer Walker" vibe was "Finally Over It" when it comes to her "slide down the wall" songs 😭… Songs that are going to be slept on are "How Sway feat. SAILORR", "Go Girl feat. Latto, Doja Cat" & "Don’t Make Me Do It / Tempted".

Worth the listen? Yes
Worth the wait? No
Overall - 6.5/10
