LeighXP

Hi! It's about time for my biannual (and beefy) Youtube update:

First, I would like to once again apologize for the tremendous hiatus throughout 2024 and into this new year. As with most instances of burnout, I didn't quite realize how bad it was until it was already bad, or that I was even experiencing burnout in the first place. I've gone through a lot of life changes during this time and had to learn different ways of adapting my job to a new lifestyle-- and editing took one of the biggest hits.

With that being said, I'm not going anywhere. I still very much plan to continue with my Journey videos as long as I have a backlog of playthroughs on my hard drive (too many at this point in time). But I would also like to start diversifying my content this year. I started "LeighXP" as a video-game *video essay channel* way back in 2016 and have always had aspirations of incorporating my roots back into what I regularly publish. Alongside this, I've also been thinking up different styles of gameplay videos that aren't full-length playthroughs, stuff like revisiting old childhood games like Zelda or the Sims. I've even been considering the occasional vlog-like video covering some of my creative hobbies outside of streams and editing, such as painting and sculpting. Who knows, it could even be fun to open a shop one day!

Second, I will be starting a VOD channel. I know this has been heavily requested for many years now and I have refused doing so not because I wanted to be contrarian but because I have a difficult relationship with protecting the privacy of my past self. This may seem ironic considering what I do for a living, but there's a large difference between "curated versions" of my past self for the public eye and "unfiltered versions" that you would find on a VOD channel. Considering that, I found an alternative that was comfortable for me in Twitch's VOD highlight feature. I had the ability to sort VODs into collections and discreetly remove them after a year or two passed and I no longer felt comfortable having them public. However, as of today, Twitch has announced that it's so kindly going to cut that feature moving forward and the total amount of highlighted hours on a channel cannot exceed 100. For reference, I have 3,073.

SO. I've decided to create a VOD channel (linked below) for the sake of redirecting those that want to catch a full playthrough while I still pick away at the Journey video backlog here on the main channel. However, the stipulations will be that:

- I will still discreetly remove playthroughs if I no longer feel comfortable having them public

- I will not be uploading every playthrough I've done for the same reasoning

I plan to start with the Persona 3 FES VODs around the time I begin uploading those Journey videos here.

Lastly, the best news of all: the last Persona 4 Journey video is just about done!! Yippee yay yay I never thought I'd see the day LOL burnout really set in during this one, mostly because my intense desire to make it perfect put me in a chokehold. BUT I'm really confident this is one of my best videos yet and I'm really proud of it, so I hope you enjoy!

Next up for Journey videos will be Persona 3 FES and 13 Sentinels, both are playthroughs that I did 1-2 years ago now and long overdo, but I loved both games dearly.

Okay, I think that's everything. If you're still here and read everything, thank you for sticking around and thank you for all your patience as I took a step back from uploading. I miss being as productive as I used to here and I'm endlessly grateful that I get to do what I do, I just had to figure out ways that help keep me motivated as things around me continue to change.

See you soon! <3

Its awesome to see you back, but please don't worry about it too much. Your mental wellbeing is the most important here and I'm glad you took time to sort all this stuff out. You're one of my favorite streamers and I can't wait to see whatever you have planned next. Also I'm happy the vod channel exists now. Your reasons for not creating it earlier are valid of course, but as someone who's not a big fan of how twitch works when it comes to vods, this is gonna be a much more comfortable way for me to rewatch streams.

@BrutusTheOwl

At the end of the day it is your life and your content. Do what is best for you, and what makes you happy in a time frame that life and your comfort allows. I think that will always lead to the best outcome for everyone. Looking forward as always to your ideas and takes on things.

SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU UPDATE AGAIN HERE LEIGH! I love your content no matter what and it gives me that boost of serotonin I need in times where it’s really low. I used to want to see lots of VODs but hearing what you said it’s totally understandable and valid that you didn’t want to make one until now. Not everyone has that want to have all their stuff up and archived like that. I appreciate yo considering the option after twitch’s latest dumb move. I also just wanna say there’s no need to apologize, burnout happens to all of us and taking care of yourself comes first!! when you put out things you enjoy when you’re ready is the best thing. I totally get the perfectionist chokehold too. Can’t wait to see more videos and the VOD channel and the new content you wanna share as well! No matter what it’ll be awesome!

Your 13 Sentinels playthrough was some of the most fun I've had watching on Twitch! I can't wait to relive it. ♥

Its so nice to hear from you again!!! Burnout is such horrible feeling, be with a hobby or job, it sucks that there are these setbacks that get in the way of things we enjoy. Having said that I am super excited for the p4 video, I don't have the time to watch long vods anymore, so the journey videos are such a blessing especially with your editing style that I like very much. Been watching bits and bits of your vods and videos since the dark souls 1 era ( a interesting thing, i found your first looking for essays on nier automata and the old kh video hehe, and then I found you again on twitch, this time because of nyxi and I did not conect the dots until months after 😂) I appreciated that you are still here and making content for us. Can't wait for the p4 video!!!

Nice to hear from you again. I echo the sentiments of a few other folks here; as always, your mental wellbeing comes first, and sometimes that means taking a break! If you are looking to diversify your vids, I must say I was really impressed by your paintings and wouldn’t mind seeing some more timelapses!

Thanks for the update Leigh! Looking forward to the journey videos whenever you're able to get them done. I can completely relate to feeling burnt out and honestly diversifying content sounds like a great way to keep the creative juices flowing! Keep up the great work and best of luck :)

As I always say to creators, you aren't obligated to make anything for us. Make things for you and the audience that enjoys it will find you. I've loved all your content that I've consumed since I came across your channel in 2021 or so, but at the end of the day, what I want to see is someone who's happy with what they're making and putting out into the world. You do everything that you need and want to do, queen 👑
