The misuse of the word fascist is an old tactic. I mean the commies used to call the Berlin Wall the Anti Fascist Protection Wall. That tells you something.

Joseph Stalin, who described fascism and social democracy as "twin brothers", arguing that fascism depends on the active support of social democracy and that social democracy depends on the active support of fascism.

I've been saying this for years! PU finally read my comments. Stalin blamed Fascism/Nazism on the right to distract from the fact that his communist regime used very similar tactics.

Marxism Is a Cult of Power, not an Economic Theory. Nazism and communism are two sides of the same coin. Here is why. 1. Communism, fascism and Nazism suppose ONE PARTY, ONE LEADER and ONE IDEOLOGY, which is aimed at preserving the permanent power of the top of the ruling party. Both the communists and the Nazis called themselves revolutionaries and socialists and wanted to radically change the world by creating a “new man” and a new type of state, and, in fact, a party of a NEW TYPE, which replaced the state. 2. The Nazi party NSDAP was called the “National-SOCIALIST German WORKERS' Party”. The NSDAP was created by Hitler to seize power and impose his ideology. Just as the Bolshevik Party was created by Lenin for the same purpose. The realization of the ideology of both communism and Nazism is based on intimidation, terror, total false propaganda and total absence of political competition. Both Hitler and Lenin hated parliamentary democracy. 3. The main idea of communism: the state owns virtually all means of earning a living and therefore decides where citizens live, where they work, what they read, what they can and cannot own, etc. Nazism gave far more economic freedom than communism. 4. Nazism and Lenin-Stalin socialism have the same strategic goal - the establishment of a NEW world order. The main means to achieve this goal are incitement of hatred against “enemies”, militarization and war. 5. Who is preventing universal happiness? The “enemies of the world!” Both Nazis and Communists destroyed them. Lenin-Stalin-Hitler-Gebbels incited the basest feelings - anger, aggression, hatred, the desire to kill and contempt for human life! In Russia, this led to the destruction of tens of millions of innocent people, primarily peasants! 6. There were differences though. Nazism was a specifically German variety of fascism-socialism based on racial theory, which was not the case in Italy. Fascists in Italy, Spain, and Portugal did not pay attention to race, and for the Nazis, racial theory was the main thing. Both Nazis and Communists exterminated people for their origins. Nazis for belonging to a nationality (Jews and Gypsies, partly Slavs), and communists - for belonging to a class (nobles, merchants, landlords, officials, officers, priests). PS. Decades of total lies and incitement of anger, hatred and suspicion were not in vain. Stalin has raised a worthy succession of moral freaks. By the way, the Nazis destroyed other people's nations, while the Communists destroyed their own.

The reason why they accuse those on the right of being fascist is because it's a strategy right out of the socialist/communist playbook which facism is cut from the same cloth of. It's intentionally done to sow confusion accuse your enemy of what you are doing. The far left has been trying this for decades because such ideologies have a track record of a trail of dead bodies behind them numbering in the millions and they don't want that. So they do sneaky stuff like that or occasionally try to repackage such ideologies such as calling socialism democratic socialism etc.

I’m not a capital “L” libertarian and often policies have been less destructive and restrictive than I feared but I find watching politicians the entire fight is virtue signal lying hacks pretending the censorship of ideas, the targeting of dissidents is purely “Justice” while they aren’t clean even if the actual charge is legit, I find the fight of right and left as the real “fascists” to be self serving. I tend to look at behavior not if they claim to be my “tribe”. I’ve seen Dems calling out their own side for embracing the idiots who think make and female are “social constructs” and being racists on white people and I’ve seen people that were reasonable voices embracing fools like Nick Fuantes that is the straw man for Republican ideas. And both sides embracing antisemitism, not just criticism of Israel but throwing “the Jews” around in conspiracy theories. I do support Israel but can listen to someone I still disagree with criticize Israel and know the difference.

Gentile actually came from the Italian "Destra Storica", Historic Right. He was first of all a lover of liberalism, not socialism, and he takes his view from Hegel's "Ethical State", where the individual is free only in the mechanics of the State, which Gentile saw in the fascist state. This conception was typical of the Italian historic right, which saw the individual free only in an institutional and organized state. Also Gentile highly criticized Marx for having put his philosophy in a materialistic key, while he believed that the spirit was the center of everything, in a Hegelian point of view. Historically speaking instead, Mussolini used to be a socialist, writing for the socialist newspaper "Avanti", from which he was kicked out after he showed himself strongly in favor of the Italian intervention in WWI. He then founded in 1919 the Fasci di Combattimento, the first fascist party, which posed the ideology of the Terza Via, Third Way, not capitalism, not socialism, but corporatism. While he opposed capitalism in theory, he gained consensus when he organized alliances with capitalists factory owners to beat, also to death, the socialists who were striking and asking for higher salaries and more working rights (this was during the Biennio Rosso, Red two years, where there was a strong socialist wave all across Italy). Moreover, he burnt to the ground the building where his former newspaper, the Avanti, had its siege and when he took power, one of the first things he did was ordering the assassination of Giacomo Matteotti, head of the socialist opposition in the Deputee Chamber. Some time later, he banned every other party which wasn't the fascist one, including liberals, communists and socialists. So for God's sake, in which way fascism was a leftist ideology?
