I have a rough plan in my head of what I want to do mileage and intensity wise each week. That usually goes out the window as soon as I go out the door but the thought is there

I used to wing it, but now with 2 kids one being a newborn plus work I find I need to plan my workouts. I just get more out of them.

I structure 3 days, and 2 days I do whatever I feel like I need most, some days it’s an extra hard day, other times it’ll be a super easy day

At this time, I would say I largely wing it. But I have done structured plans before, and you don't forget the principles. Even when winging it, you know what specific activities do to your abilities.

I combine 2 sets of plans. I do my running from a Marathon training plan. I do my strength from a plan designed for me by a personal trainer.

Following the 80/20 sprint level three 19 week program for bike power and run heart rate. In week 10 now and my ftp has improved 10% and my 5k is down 5mins. Last couple years have winged it but the plan has shown greater improvements.

Always plan. Its too expensive to mess up a race compared to the time and efford put into an ironman (or like it). And always learn. Try new stuff. Listen to coach. Research online. Learn. Experiment. Plan er the most effecient way… just do as you are told ✌️✌️✌️

I have a ballpark plan I my head, and rotate a handful of workouts. Guess that counts as winging it? 🤷♂

If I'm signed up to an event I'll structure a plan and follow it As closely as life allows, if I'm not training for anything I'll just stay active and do whatever I think will be fun day to day.

I have the core trainings pinned down. Interval when I'm in the office and have access to a treadmill, weighted run when I'm at home, long run the day after weighted run or Sunday. The rest can be whatever I feel like, I can do a time trial, another interval, a short weighted or an easy run.
