Awesome video by a fellow Vet!! I can’t speak directly for Federal Law Enforcement, but with an active clearance you definitely could have landed a government contracting role. A Secret clearance is valid for 10 years, so it’s a valuable asset. Personally, I never had much luck getting callbacks from federal jobs. From the outside looking in, a lot of those positions seem to run on a “who you know” basis. You know, the good ol’ boy system. Many of the roles are already spoken for, and the application process is often just a formality to make things appear fair. That’s why starting out as a contractor is a good move to keep your clearance active and helps you build relationships with federal employees who can later refer you for permanent positions. My Background, army veteran, been a gov contractor for years.
