Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat, so do and observe whatever they tell you, but not the works they do. For they preach, but do not practice." (Matt 23:1-3)
Jesus always called His disciples and all people to obey the law of God, since that is how He Himself walked. And to be a disciple, by definition, is to imitate. Therefore, all men must recognize it is impossible to imitate Him, without by consequence obeying God's commandments.
1 John 2:3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.
