@naturelenses

They have a unique set of powerful, spring-loaded mandibles that can be snapped closed at extremely high speeds (207 feet or 63 meters per second), which is 2300 times faster than the blink of an eye. For more info about trap jaw ant, checkout this video : www.youtube.com/shorts/1bHYGuFAKZw

I can't imagine if we have an apocalypse with this ant but in a human sized scale.

@43_Dude

Some people will actually use their jaws as stitches. They have the ants bite the open wound and then pop the head off the body so that it keeps the wound closed until it heals.

Fun fact: they can snap their jaws directly on the ground which will send their whole body flying. They sometimes use this trick to escape antlion larva.

As ZeFrank once said: "Until they found a Termite that does the same thing but a little faster".

@PaperFaceMedia

Their jaws actually have so much force that they can launch themselves out of antlion pits just by closing their jaw into the ground.

I see so many of these in my back yard. If you tease one with a stick it'll use it's mandibles to snap itself away really quickly, sometimes launching itself a few inches high.

I was playing around with a carpenter ant carrying its dead buddy in childhood and it latched onto my hand so freaking hard that I still remember the pain. Cant imagine what this jaw would do to a finger
