Do compensated muzzle brakes affect external ballistics? Stay tuned for a test video this weekend. I have a theory that they don't directly affect the ballistics but they do affect point of impact due to driving the muzzle downward. If I am correct, then essentially a compensated muzzle brake will effectively reduce the range of your firearm as well as inhibit the ability to calculate actual drop as it will be initially off by a certain amount that will grow/continue to get worse as the distance increases.
