Embedded captions in our videos? yes or no, and why? Vote below!

A better option would be to invest in well done, accurate closed captioning instead of relying on auto-generation. Someone else in the comments also mentioned, quite importantly, that embedded subtitles cannot be read by screen readers, which visually impaired viewers use. YouTube HAS a caption feature, and it's possible to provide your own captions. Just use that; it provides accessibility for people in all situations.

That would be awesome! I have severe ADHD and subtitles really help me with staying focused when watching just about anything. Like another commenter said, the automated YT Closed Captions oftentimes have the incorrect words or phrases and aren't always in sync so having your own subtitles would be greatly appreciated! 😊

Honestly I think having subtitles you can't turn off would be pretty annoying. I'd rather have the option to turn on subtitles if I'd like.

embedded captions cannot be read by screen readers, blocking off your videos from being enjoyed by visually impaired watchers. if you used YouTube's in built tools for closed captioning, it would still serve the purpose of providing video captions and could help out visually impaired viewers plus the embedded captions are more reminiscent of slop content which you guys aren't so

I think they're a good idea! I'm partially deaf, and captions help me understand what the voice over is saying

I think subtitles can help give a video personality as well as the benefits for people auditory impairment or neurological conditions :3

Not only does reading help me retain information and with deaf folks, but automated captions tend to be off at times or delayed, and have various glitches. (At least for me.) Mildly annoying at worst and at best greatly helpful. : D

@jennifermercado1992

It would be great for your viewers who are hard of hearing me and my mom love your videos but my mother is deaf in one ear so sometimes she miss hears things or doesn't hear the information.... I put the closed captions on that YT provides but they aren't always accurate..

@Vix-Vapo-rube

It's mixed for me because sometimes I read and can't listen or vice versa so maybe do a video with and a video without, fills everyone's cup that was aswell, I do know that takes more time, and all of that, but yeah, just a thought

@tksharkbait

Subtitles you can't turn off are horribly distracting. If I want them, I'll turn them on. 99% of the time I don't want them.
