No matter what happens, Matt Eberflus still has that timeout, so who really won?

"The Jets don't play football. Football just... sorta happens to them." - Jon Bois

Just put the city of Chicago in there. The Sox sucked, the blackhawks suck, the bears ESPECIALLY sucked despite all the hype. It’s all bad. They got bedard and Williams but at what cost

The fact 2 Chicago sports are being mentioned here hurts me

Baseball is nearly 150 years old and the only time we've seen a team as bad as Chicago was when a guy literally sold players to himself. They're so bad that not even the pinnacle of tanking a team intentionally can top their suck

The people not choosing the White Sox don't follow baseball

The owner of the Oakland A's deserves at least an honorable mention.

The fact that more people are actually saying a relatively run of the mill Jets failure (by their standards) over a 121 loss season tells you how much more popular football is than baseball.

Honorable mention also to Jimmy Haslam/Deshaun Watson

The White Sox were abhorrent, and they'll have nothing to show for it next year. History may forget the Rodgers tenure in New York, but history will never forget those Sox

It’s the White Sux. What we saw with the Jets isn’t THAT far out of the norm for a franchise as cursed as the Jets are. But 121 losses in a season? Come on, man. That’s historic.

The Nashville Predators need more recognition. All that talent and all those offseason moves and the best they can do is last in the league

Whenever I want to laugh, I just look at that USA Today article projecting the 2024 season and seeing them put the Jets at 13-4 and winning the AFC East

The Nascar mention is unexpected, but 100% deserved. Hopefully, the fallout from Joey winning the title finally causes Nascar to fix the playoff system. If they don't, Nascar deserves Lolcow of the year

Dude the NY Rangers went from serious contender to last place in the Metro for no legit reason other than “bad vibes” it’s fucking hilarious

Need to have the NY Giants as an honorable mention as well. The Hard Knocks offseason showing us how badly they fumbled seemingly every move in the offseason was so great.

My grandfather had been watching and supporting the New York Jets as a diehard fan for 60+ years. He's weathered it all, from constant draft butcherings letting all-time greats pass like Warren Sapp and Jerry Rice, to recent collapses like the 2010 Mark Sanchez disaster and the failed Tim Tebow gamble. However, out of all the fuck-ups that have been manufactured by the LolJets, this season has completely broken him as a fan and as a person. I watched him pile all of his NY Jets merch to set ablaze in a bonfire. Aaron Rodgers, Robert Saleh, Woody Johnson, and everybody on the organization has completely set them back decades in terms of progress and fanbase. To think analysts were hyping them up as a Super Bowl team at the beginning of the year. lol

I get that Hutton won't win based on popularity/exposure, but he really deserves it based on what he did. The sheer audacity to even try it is mind boggling.

It's that time of the year once again. We reflect on the blessings and curses of our lives, and reminisce about the true question: Who is Lolcow of the Year?
There are plenty of choices to choose from, and here are the nominees for this prestigious dishonor.
- Lee Hutton/The AFL - A cataclysm of despair. Half the league shutting down in some fashion over several months, players unable to be paid for some teams. When things went haywire, Hutton went AWOL for weeks on end. Eventually ousted in a coup for much more competent management in Jeff Fisher, leaving Hutton out in the cold. Repeatedly blamed others and a grand conspiracy for his own failings as league commissioner. The competent AFL teams splinter off after the year and create the equivalent of the "No Homers Society".
- The Chicago White Sox - Set MLB record for most losses in a regular season. Inept in every sense of the word, a team once hailed as a potential World Series contender falls into the abyss and is forced to tank less than a decade after a major tank. Shedding payroll left and right, under threat of moving due to fan apathy, a terrible stadium, and godawful ownership. Anything that could go wrong did. The final sting? They're forced to draft 10th due to draft lottery rules. Lol.
- Matt Eberflus - If only it was just due to the sheer idiocy that occurred in the final stages of their Thanksgiving game. His crimes are vast: Repeatedly ignoring terrible follies on the team as doing things the right way. Bringing in Shane Waldron to "coordinate" the offense by means of terrible short-yardage playcalls. Unable to rally the Bears after being broken by a Hail Mary against Washington (which was started due to a lack of composure by Tyrique Stevenson). Finally fired after the Lions hilarity, but his spirit lives on in Chicago: With another lost season.
- The New York Jets - LOLJETS truly running wild. The Aaron Rodgers and Woody Johnson Show has spiraled to hell. A season expected to contend fell apart like their defense. Fire Robert Saleh in a powerplay maneuver by Woody Johnson only to promote a completely overmatched Jeff Ulbrich. Aaron is rapidly declining and unable to bail out every single thing as in his past, the only thing in its prime is creating controversy on Pat McAfee. Woody Johnson and his kids meddling in every single aspect of the organization, finally cutting ties with Joe Douglas after cucking him for the last few years. Use ratings on Madden to make personnel decisions. Named his kid Brick, he makes postgame speeches in the locker room. Lol.
HONORABLE MENTION:
- The Buffalo Sabres - Almost an entire generation without a playoff berth, and looks to be continuing this year.
- The Toronto Maple Leafs - For officially becoming property of the Bruins with yet another game seven loss at TD Garden.
- The Pohlad Family - For their inaction after the Twins first playoff series win in years, shedding payroll and depth. This resulted in an epic collapse forcing Minnesota to miss the postseason. More cuts on the way.
- NASCAR - For the gimmicks finally coming to roost with a season that nobody liked. The 36th ranked driver made it to the playoffs due to a win-and-in system. Open collusion during a playoff race. Joey Logano winning the championship despite originally being eliminated (and revived thanks to a disqualification). Now with open revolt from several teams (FRM and 23XI Racing)
Who do you think should get this honor?
