A Danish friend, still learning English, had dinner with some friends. The evening was filled with plenty of scouse banter and discussions on many topics. On leaving, my friend thanked the hosts for their "hostility". (Instead of "hospitality".)

Hi there, love your channel. A pronunciation question for you. I've noticed over the past few years that more and more people are pronouncing the "u" in words like multiply and ultimate as if they rhyme with salt. This seems very weird to me (to me it's always been a different sound, like uh and ah), and now I am wondering if I somehow learned to pronounce these wrong at some point.

It just occurred to me to ask... what's up with "won't"? How did "will not" become that? All the rest of the similar contractions spell out the first word, connect the next, and contract that, even for "I'm".

I bought a copy of āEnglish As She Is Spokeā after watching your video about it. I was especially interested in the āIdiotisms and Proverbsā section, but my book doesnāt have it. Is that section in a separate volume or did I just receive an incomplete copy?

That T-shirt reminds me of the "English" t-shirts and sweatshirts they sold in China when I lived there 5-10 years ago. I had one that said "Delaware Beach, Pennsylvania Marshall Swin Ghamp" across the front (there is no Delaware Beach in Pennsylvania, not to mention the misspelling of "swim" and "champ") and then on the arm switched sports to have something to do with baseball (also misspelled!) š

šQUIRKY ENGLISH MERCHš
I've just popped some new designs in my shop based on botched English phrases from Pedro Carolino's infamous "English As She Is Spoke" phrasebook.
"THIS GIRL HAVE A BEAUTY EDGE"
US shop: tinyurl.com/USbeautyedge
EU shop: tinyurl.com/abeautyedge
"CRAUNCH THE MARMOSET"
US shop: tinyurl.com/craunchmarmoset
EU shop: tinyurl.com/EUcraunchmarmoset
The US and EU shops cover the entire world between them.
