I would have thought the mosaics, and accounts would be enough to prove it. But it is always nice to have more proof.

"Give them bread and circuses and they will never revolt.” – Juvenal, a poet in Ancient Rome. "The evil was not in *bread and circuses*, per se, but in the willingness of the people to sell their rights as free men for full bellies and the excitement of the games which would serve to distract them from the other human hungers which bread and circuses can never appease.” - Marcus Tullius Cicero.

Not sure why anybody would doubt this.. it was written about everywhere. The Colosseum was a big deal and they spared no expense to entertain the crowds.

Both the Gladiators and animals were held in captivity and forced to fight. It's so tragic for all of them. I know the dark energy still exists in the places where they fought. I visited The Colosseum in Rome, and had such an eerie feeling there. Other people around me felt it too 😲
