Honestly it used to be exclusives, but the future is lookin like Nintendo and PC

1. Backwards compatibility 2. Game selection 3. System performance 4. Price Had you asked me 10 years ago, the price and system performance would have been the top priorities. Now, with backwards compatibility less common and always having a game available worth playing, I value the backwards compatibility and game selection far more than I used to

PC (Steam, GOG) and Nintendo have covered 99% of my gaming since the 360.

I go for exclusives franchises that I like, so pretty much only Nintendo now because I know I can get XBox and PlayStation games on PC somewhere down the line.

As a PC convert my big thing is convenience. On pc i can sign into my laptop, steam deck, pc, or even a friends pc and have everything right there. The closest a console gets to that is the switch since you can dock it on someone else’s dock, but at least for me I have a lot more friends with pcs than switch docks

1. Backwards compatibility. 2. Capabilities. 3. Ecosystem. 4. Exclusives.

People can say whatever they want about it nowadays, but exclusives are system sellers.

Not being locked into a single ecosystem is a big one for me.

At this point I'm sticking exclusively to PC gaming because that's where the vast majority of my game library is. I don't see any point in investing in a game library on another system when I already have so many games on PC.

Honestly, all but the achievements/trophies choice. Controller does make a significant difference for me. My dain bramaged mind just can't compute Xbox stick layout

It's exclusives and digital library. New hardware is also convincing depending on how beneficial the hardware is. Series X & PS5 are both exceptional while Switch 2 has a variety of new tech like mouse and new OS.

For me, I have been an Xbox guy since the OG Xbox (switched from PS2 to Xbox towards the end of those consoles), and I have loved Nintendo since I was a kid. I enjoy playing RTS games on my laptop, but I don't have a gaming PC.

I like the switch as a console. It really works for most things I want from a gaming console and it isn’t as heavy as other handhelds.

Glad to see exclusives become less of a thing so everyone can play on whatever they want and not be forced onto specific hardware. In the past, I always bought Xbox mostly because of the controller specifically. Now I just use an Xbox controller on PC. I guess that's hardware. Also I guess I was locked in for Halo, but again, it's on PC and that's fantastic.

How good the general experience the system provides. For example, i went for the switch because it allows me to just switch from tv mode to handheld easily which was actually something i struggled a lot with, having to leave my console on because i needed to go somewhere like the toilet or just wanted to get some air and usually spent time on my phone or 3ds but couldn't play the game i wanted to And right now, I'm thinking of a ps5 because of the area-specific hints and game progression bar it has in the menu. I spent some time with a ps5 and i found that feature so useful for playing single player games which i usually do but being able to see quest times and have basically a dynamic guide built into the system really helped me plan out open world games better and enjoy the game more

With most console exclusives going to PC. The PS6 generation might be an all PC generation for me. With Gaming getting more and more expensive, that might be the play from here on out Other than Nintendo of course

Honestly I can always make a hard case for ecosystems. Give me a nice UI, storefront, achievements and friend stats and I’m all over it. I love seeing what everyone is upto and playing
