There’s a whole multitude of reasons why our anxiety spikes in December – changes in routine, the pressure of meeting everyone’s needs, sensory overload, the fact there is so much to remember – the list goes on!
Anxiety also doesn’t know it’s Christmas so sadly, if it’s something you or your children deal with daily it’s not going to go away just because it’s December. 🫂
✨ Here’s our top tips for dealing with anxiety during the festive period... ✨
💛 Keep your normal daily routine and schedule as much as possible even on Christmas Day. This regularity can help to bring calm. 💛 Use a visual calendar or timetable to show what’s coming up – this can help both adults and children who may feel overwhelmed. 💛 Build in rest and decompression time after big events. If you’re seeing wider family then have nothing planned for a couple of days afterwards in order to regulate.
