Left Hand Path - Entombed Not just that song but that entire album is perfect. Don't have a story other than the fact that I love it.

Obituary- Slowly We Rot. When I saw this cassette lying on my cousin's floor, I didn't need to hear it to know that it would change my life. Upon hearing it, my life was at once ruined forever.

I've got a couple good stories here: One of my favourites is scourge of the offspring by cattle decap (I know it's deathGRIND but hear me out) someone had stolen a helmet from one of those public use electric scooters and it was crowdsurfing the whole gig but I associate this song with that memory. The second one is On stirring seas of salted blood by the black Dahlia murder because I I'd gotten high on coke during the intermission before they played and when this song came on we started a small rowing pit. Fun times. Also shout out to Redfog by Orbit culture being my first death metal song

Blood red throne - Soulseller Long story: So, I was a kid in 2nd or 3rd grade, listening to Metallica and Overkill and stuff like that when my parents signed up for Spotify premium. My first thought was to find the most stupid named metal genre and came across a playlist called "Brutal metal". The first song was called Soulseller by the band Blood Red Throne. I didn't know what to think about it back in the day, but I knew that this is the direction in music for me. I started listening to heavier stuff, but kind of forgot about this song (it was on a playlist I didn't listen to anymore). After a few years, in high school, I randomly found the song again and it was sick, the first scream is one of the best I've heard and the segment where he says "Breathe slowly and demolish your mind" is insane. I started listening to it a lot and I looked up the band to see what other stuff they made, and I found out that they just released a single two days before, called Itika. Like what are the chances?

In 2007 I shat my boxers before an Annotations Of An Autopsy show, and ditched my boxers in the very bottom of my (then) best friend's bathroom trash bin. It was a great show, and I even wore a shirt from a very unknown band "Mortuus" and the lead singer of AOAA complimented my shirt before the show and called me badass. I was around 16 at the time and it was a great experience! Lol

Morbid Angel - God of the Forsaken One night one my way home right after a local punk gig I blasted that tune in my patriot with all the volume cranked thefuckup that the “check engine” turned on, the solo section in the middle of the song and the riff after that part are one of the most heaviest stuff that MA has donde ever.

Autoerotic Amputation by Afterbirth is a killer track. I had first heard it at a show featuring them, Bowel Erosion, and Thaetas opening for Mortician. About that show, I had just started hanging out with a friend I hadn't seen in around a decade and I invited him to join me, despite him being a more pop-oriented guy (the only metal band he listened was Metallica). I was surprised by how much he enjoyed listening to Mortician with me, so I figured he might wanna go with me. It was an absolute blast of a show, but the best part was taking him to the merch table and having the guy at the table introduce my friend to all these vile band names by flashing random CDs at him. He was losing his shit when he saw Cock and Ball Torture, amongst other ridiculous names. To top it all off, the guy doing all this was Will Rahmer of all people, so my buddy was all star struck after I told him who that was.

Scourge of Iron by Cannibal Corpse This one seems like a good one to nominate since it does what I think a lot of great metal does which is it's a lot smarter than it seems. In general when you think of Cannibal Corpse you probably think of songs about cumming blood or smashing faces with a hammer (and there's nothing wrong with those songs or their subjects) but the lyrics of Scourge of Iron sound like they were ripped straight from Dante's Inferno. The song almost transfers the listener to a realm of fire and pain where the wicked are tormented for eternity and then hands the listener a whip - beckoning them to lash the damned. Sonically its a great way to open the show and get the crowd beating the shit out of each other. I guess I also have a Cannibal Corpse story. I've seen them a few times and I have even worked a Cannibal Corpse show when they played a venue a work at. But the craziest time I saw them was when they played a small festival a few years ago. I attended but I knew all the guys working the stage and they set up a barricade that in hindsight was too flimsy. They also connected the barricade to a pole that had big lights aimed at the stage. During the last two songs of Corpse's set the crowd started crushing the barricade and if it had gone down it would have brought the lights down on the crowd or band. It was a small fest so there wasnt even security in front of the stage. I was in the front row and saw a few stage hands I know jump in the pit between the stage/barricade, trying to hold the barricade up against the entire crowd. I saw what was happening, jumped the barricade, and started helping - the entire crowd fighting against us. Thankfully the barricade held and the lights didn't fall but most people at that fest have no idea how close they came to getting hurt or killed. Which seems appropriate in a way. You know, is it really a Cannibal Corpse concert if you dont feel like you're about to die during it?

From whom to waste - dying fetus. I took the public bus to school every morning for 4 years and I would usually listen to some kind of extreme metal ( death metal , grindcore, gore grind, etc.) this isn’t much of a surprise to the people I know from the bus because of how I act. Another thing is that My phone has no blue tooth it hasn’t worked in a year so I use €12 AirPods for my commute. So one day I got on the bus , it was mostly empty , I had my death metal playlist on and was sitting on the lower floor . After a while the bus started to fill until it was pretty cramped in the lower floor . I was at the end of a song when I reached into my bag , in doing so I disconnected my shitty headphones and didn’t realise . When AirPods disconnect your Spotify pauses but I must not have thought about it because I pressed fast forward and my stomach dropped when the goofy intro from womb to waste played on full volume 💔 To make this worse when I tried to pause it, after a few seconds of confusion and shock , when I tried pausing it my phone fell under my seat letting maybe another 10 seconds of the song play . I was soo embarrassed, nearly crying Anyone who knows what the “from womb to waste “ intro is would probably be in the same situation. Anyway I roughed it out , made it to my stop , I kept getting weird looks and the guy next to me got off the bus right after the situation. I now walk to school and still banging to dying fetus!!!

Lake Of Fire- Nocturnus This was one of the first death metal I listened to back in high school. I remember waiting in a long asf line at the microwave so I could eat my unseasoned brown rice and chicken 😭
