Schools not following the IEP. As a parent you likely can find out through your verbal disabled child. I can't imagine how hard it is for parents of non verbal children. Schools will sometimes use behavior concerns to avoid accountability for not following the IEP. If your child is non verbal you may be wondering why the IEP just isn't working. You may wonder why when you try to change the IEP due to it not working it doesn't make a difference. There should be cameras in every special ed classroom that is accessible upon request to the parents of those kids when IEP fidelity becomes a concern. It's not right that schools can still refuse to do what is right for our most vulnerable population and get away with it because the kids they are neglecting have communication issues and can't advocate for themselves.
