Big Yellow

Wanted to give a lil update on how things are going just cause it's been a bit. Admittedly I've been feeling super slow and unproductive lately, I kinda wanted to take things easy for a bit after the last RBY vid was such a huge undertaking, but I found vids I thought would be pretty chill to work on like the Lego Gem vid and the one I'm working on right now a lot more difficult than I expected.

I'm kinda over it now though, the video I'm working on right now is more of a "Here's why I like this" vid than a "Here's some cool facts" vid and I think it's the fact I haven't done one of those in a while that sorta caught me, it's pretty easy to lose faith in a vid like that while you're working on it cause you second guess yourself a lot and wonder if what you're saying is actually engaging or interesting. It's been kinda slow going and the scope of the vid isn't super big, but I feel much better about it now!

Still, a big factor in why I really wanna make this vid work is that it is a style of vid I'd like to do more of, my video where I talked about why I loved Street Fighter V is one of my favourites to date, and there's some series I'd like to cover in a similar fashion, Ace Attorney being the biggest one by a long shot. That's a series I love to death but I've been wondering how to approach vid-wise forever.

Sorry if this feels like a bit of a nothing-burger update, I've just felt very stumped recently and wasn't sure why until the last couple days where I really felt like I got my mojo back. The next vid will be out soonish, and after that I'll start on the 'Recent Developments in RBY OU' vid that I know a lot of people are waiting on. That's defo gonna take some time, but if you're starved for RBY stuff I did recently start a randomizer of Pokémon Red on stream! The VOD of the first part is on my second channel, Big Yellow: 2nd Impact if you wanna check it out, and I'm pretty certain there'll be a supercut down the line for it.

That's pretty much it, I'm doing well and even if I've been a smidge unproductive I'm still having a lot of fun with what I do and I'm looking forward to making some cool stuff! (:

I think the most-fun thing for me about your channel is how much you clearly love the topics you cover. I do not care AT ALL about Pokémon, Lego, or Worms, but I love those videos because of how passionate you are about those subjects. So long as that passion remains a constant. You could do a video on literally anything, and I would watch it.

@ojigbo

Regardless of the subject, your videos are incredibly entertaining due to the way you present them. As a viewer, I feel that strong sense that you're always very genuine about the topics you talk about. The passion you put into every single upload is very commendable and truly rare to find, which is why I find myself watching all of your videos. It also greatly reflects onto your community, who also passionately engage with your content. Your general style is very chill and soothing, almost like hanging out with a friend, who talking about their latest interest and I very much enjoy that about your channel.

glad to hear you're feeling better about your work, everything you put out is fantastic regardless of if it's considered a 'proper' video; looking forward to it! <3

Even though I'm primarily enthralled by your fighting game content, I genuinely love everything you put out. Whatever's cooking, I'm sure it'll be great as long as you put your all into it. :3

Your Mario 64 DS video is one of my favorites by far I assure you just talking about things you enjoy is more than enough for us We watch your content for you so that's what we want from it, everything else is secondary :)

I've been intrigued by ace attorney for a while, it's an interesting cultural lens, and the characters look interesting, but I've never had a chance to sit down and play. If only someone could do some sort of retrospective or story video covering the series.

You could discuss the nuance of a bowl of porridge and it's effects on the metagame of your digestive system and I'd still listen attentively. Just make sure you're having fun and take your time, we'll wait patiently!

The difference between silence and genius is self doubt. Quite frankly, I have very little intrinsic interest about most of the things you want to talk about. I would probably really not care about 80% of the topics you cover if it was some other random person making a video about them. It's the way you talk about them and why you talk about them that is interesting. As long as you are bringing a genuine passion and depth of opinion to your videos, I think most of your audience will enjoy whatever you want to do. It's not that you have been getting lucky in hitting upon a bunch of unexpectedly interesting subjects that is keeping me coming back, it's that your enthusiasm and sincerity makes me want to listen to whatever you feel the need to share. I think that the more you can trust yourself to be inherently interesting as a person, the better your content will be, because that is the foundation of your enthusiasm and sincerity, and the real source of your success.

“Big yellow gushing about nonsense for an hour” is one of my favorite genres of content on youtube tbh

Idk how I stumbled across your videos, because you got recommended to me when you did videos mainly on fighting games. I dont hold much intrest in fighting games, but I was just genuinely suprised with how fun and intresting you made those videos. And that carried through to your other content and I just genuinely love to hear you talk about stuff you like. Plus I also adore the sprite edits for the pokemon videos genuine 10/10

im watched stuff on games and topics that I never would've cared about bc the way you talk about them is so entertaining. I found you through the omega Hugo video, started with binging fighting game garbage videos and now I'm always excited to see whatever random topic you decide to yap about for half an hour. do whatever you want whenever you want, this is the best channel on this website.

Your SF5 and SF6 videos were the main reason I ended up giving SF6 a try, and I ended up having a lot of fun with it! You've got a lot of charisma when you're talking about something you like, and that shines through whether it's rambling or scripted. No matter what it is, I'm always happy to see a new Big Yellow video on the homepage.

I just enjoy listening to you talk. Most of the things you find interesting I also find interesting. If I didn't before your video then you almost always have me very interested by the middle of the video.
