As the #1 Sonic Heroes fan, I'll do you one better. I went into my copy of Sonic Heroes and did some testing to provide you with the most accurate results. Here's a ranking of each team for each multiplayer mode for the most objective answer. Best - Top, Worst - Bottom Action Race: Both teams race through a moderately short level. - Team Dark: They have the best move set, but what makes them overpowered is their Team Blast, Chaos Inferno. It stops time, and it also freezes your opponent. Busted. - Team Sonic: They have the same move set as Team Dark, but their Team Blast, Sonic Overdrive, isn't as useful. - Team Chaotix: Despite their Team Blast, Chaotix Recital, being the least useful in this mode (and just in 2P Mode in general), Espio being better than Amy makes Team Chaotix as a whole better. - Team Rose: While they have the second best Team Blast, Flower Festival, with it giving them all three power ups (Bubble Shield, Speed Up, and Invincibility) and a level up for each team member, Team Rose has one critical flaw: Amy is SLOWER than the other Speed Type characters. You read correctly. I did some tests, and Amy runs slower than Sonic, Shadow, and Espio. This objectively makes Team Rose the worst team for all of the on-foot races. It also doesn't help that her Swinging Hammer Attack is basically the Somersault from Sonic Adventure 2 in that it kills Amy's speed, meaning you can't spam Rocket Accel like you can with the other teams. Bingo Highway is the only level where she isn't trash, and that's only because everyone moves at the same speed while in pinball mode. Battle: Both teams fight to knock each other off the stage. - Team Sonic: Battles are too short to make use of Team Blasts, and Knuckles has the best AOE attack of any Power Type character by far. - Team Dark: Same as Team Sonic, but Omega's AOE attack is not as good. - Team Chaotix: Espio's ninja stars and Leaf Swirl make him better at combat than Amy. Vector's ranged attack can be useful in certain situations, but Knuckles and Omega are completely invincible while attacking, while Vector is only invincible for his first attack. - Team Rose: While Tornado Hammer does have the advantage of being the only tornado attack that can be used as a projectile, it has too much end lag to be useful compared to the other teams' versions of the attack, and her Swinging Hammer Attack is basically useless. Big has the same ranged attack as Vector, so the same faults apply. Special Stage: Both teams race to grab the Chaos Emerald first. - All teams are equal in this mode because none of their unique attributes are applicable. Ring Race: Both teams compete to have the most rings when the timer reaches 0. -This mode is special because each of the three levels are unique. I'll go through them all for clarity's sake. Egg Treat: Both teams try to grab rings spewing out from the Egg Hawk. - Team Dark: Chaos Inferno continues to be great. - Team Rose: The one time where Team Rose is actually good. Flower Festival giving you a Bubble Shield AND Invincibility can pretty much guarantee you the victory if used at the right time. The only reason why they're ranked lower than Team Dark is because Amy is slow, meaning your opponent could grab rings before you can. - Team Sonic: Technically they are better than Team Rose because of Sonic being faster than Amy, but Flower Festival is just too good here. - Team Chaotix: This is just sad. Despite Chaotix Recital's special effect literally revolving around rings, there are 0 enemies in this level, meaning it can't even give you any rings. Pinball Table: Both teams collect rings by playing pinball and GAMBLING!!! - All teams are equal in this level because it's pinball, and everyone is at the mercy of the slot machines. Hot Elevator: Both teams try to collect rings while on a rising elevator. - Team Sonic & Team Dark: Hot Elevator is basically a Battle mode level in all but objective, so the rankings here are basically the same. Since level ups aren't in this level, Knuckles can't use his OP AOE attack, meaning he and Omega are equal, which thus means both teams are equal. - Team Chaotix: For the same reasons why they are ranked here in Battle mode. - Team Rose: Same as Team Chaotix. Bobsled Race: Both teams race 3 laps in bobsleds. - Like the Special Stage mode, no team has an advantage over the other in this mode. Bobsleds have the same properties regardless of the chosen team. Quick Race: Both teams race through a really short level. - Team Sonic & Team Dark: Like Battle mode, Quick Races are too short to make use of Team Blast, meaning both teams are the best because they're basically identical. - Team Chaotix: Above Team Rose because Espio is better than Amy. - Team Rose: Below Team Chaotix because Amy is worse than Espio. Expert Race: Both teams race through a long level. - Team Dark: Being the longest levels, Expert Races are where Team Blasts see the most use, meaning Chaos Inferno becomes even more powerful. - Team Sonic: Team Rose may have the better Team Blast, but Sonic is actually good. - Team Chaotix: Chaotix Recital has the potential to be useful here due to Expert Races having more enemies on average, but they are better than Team Rose simply because of Amy being terrible. - Team Rose: Amy continues to be the LVP: Least Valuable Player. To be fair, Expert Races do have sections where Amy's slower speed doesn't matter (Rails in Rail Canyon, Flowers in Frog Forest, and Propellers in Egg Fleet), but she still sucks. Conclusion: Even though Team Rose has the second best Team Blast, they are the worst team overall because of Amy being the slowest Speed Type character and her having the worst move in the game (Amy is the sole reason why Team Rose is my least favourite team to play if you couldn't tell). The ranking from best to worst goes: Team Dark > Team Sonic > Team Chaotix > Team Rose.

If memory serves, assuming the players are equally skilled (and or evil) it would probably go Rose=Dark > Sonic > Chaotix(?) I think I've literally only played against one person running chaotix I can't remember if you can permanently freeze people with Chaos Inferno, but Team Rose's team blast has caused many of my friends great confusion because if they want to, they can lock the enemy out of their team blast forever, and also prevent them from switching characters while also leveling the whole team up, making Amy faster. The Team Blasts all have the ability to just drop people over a pit, but people don't seem to realize Team Rose can also do this, just not as effectively. It isn't an instant stop dead like the other 3 teams, but it gradually decreases their momentum causing them to fall to their death. So despite being the slowest, Team Rose can dish out BY FAR the most harassment on your enemy, while team Dark's freeze can help them close distances, or build their lead, Team Rose does that while buffing themselves. The other Two are kind of interchangeable in my eyes since I'm fairly certain Espio is as fast as Sonic and Shadow, while their team blasts behave similarly. Team Sonic does get the "advantage" of the light speed attack, but I don't think I've ever seen that come into play in a race. Team Sonic also has one funny thing I've seen happen a few times where because of the fact that their team blast launches WAY higher than the Chaotix's, a trigger happy Sonic player may use it too early and SAVE their opponent, while this is less likely for team chaotix. Granted that also comes in as an advantage where it can net kills it has no right landing but so I'm like just slightly conditioned to put Sonic over the chaotix since the saving issue is almost always solved by waiting for just a moment.

I think the people who voted for Team Chaotix misread the post. We're talking about multiplayer not singleplayer.

Sonic and Shadow are identical. Amy's tornado is a projectile, but with it still being slow, it's easy to dodge while she's stuck in place. Espio's is completely stationary, but makes him invisible. For whatever that's worth. Knuckles' combo ends a quick quake, lingering fire, or and eruption of fireballs based on level, giving him to arena control at higher levels. Omega goes from bullets to flamethrowers to missiles that explode on impact. Vector similarly goes from music note stream to fire breath to lingering bubblegum bombs. Big's enders all function the same, with him swinging his fishing rod and lure around him like a flail, the range increasing with level. Fly characters are the same until they're alone. Rouge and Tails use dummy rings, Charmy does what the song says, Cream uses Cheese, which I've never seen since I don't think they have a point in Single Player where they're forced to split up. I know Vector and I think Big have an exploit with Body Slam that they use to cheese Character Battle 2, but that involves pausing an resetting the match, so that's irrelevant. Meanwhile, there's a Thunder Shoot exploit to rapidly charge Team Blast. So the question becomes: Which would you prefer: Sonic having Light Speed Attack online, Being in Shadow's time stop, or Rose being invincible for a good chunk of the game while getting free levels each time? If you can quick charge Team Blast, then Rose might be busted in Duels while Dark is busted in Races (SA2 Amy flashbacks). So that just leaves Sonic and Chaotix. Sonic has a usable ability gained from Team Blast. Chaotix's does nothing besides the screen nuke if you don't have robots to destroy for Rings to recharge Team Blast faster... which doesn't even matter with Quick Charging. So what exactly does Chaotix offer over the other Teams? I'm starting to think they're the worst Team. But then again, I don't know Heroes Multiplayer Meta. They might secretly be GOAT'd.

Team Rose seems slower and the attacks aren't usually as good as the other 3 teams.

The one thing I'm pretty aure is that team dark is the best cause the time stop is pretty strong in multiplayer as far as I remember, and I thin chaotix always felt the worst cause their unique things never felt too strong

bold of you to assume I have friends who are decent at and willing to play this game to put an accurate and well documented response

I didn't have any friends when I was a kid so I NEVER played the multiplayer mode.

Team Rose is without a doubt the worst because Amy is slower than the rest of the speed characters. Also Big and Vector suck as a power characters compared to Knuckles and Omega. Knuckles and Omega attack faster, have better AOE attacks, and have tons of invincibility while attacking. At least Team Rose has the second best team blast. Team Chaotix is pretty much the same as Team Rose but with a much better speed character and a worse team blast. Also Vector is slightly better than Big because Vector's AOEs don't leave him vulnerable for as long as Big's do. Team Sonic has the best power character. Knuckles' AOE attacks are super powerful. Team Sonic would be the best if they didn't have the worst team blast. Team Dark is usually the best because their team blast stops time for about 10 seconds. Other then that, they're identical to Team Sonic except that Knuckles is better than Omega, but at least Omega is the second best power character.

Chaotix's team blast is the worst in multiplayer, and espio and charmy both have watered down movesets

Since we're considering multiple game modes (I've never played the 2P modes myself so I quickly glanced at a wiki haha), I went off of what I can remember about their Team Blasts. I'd vote for Team Rose, as they get invincibility and power orbs. But this is against the light speed dash (Sonic), freezing time (Dark) and a constant supply of rings, which can refill the blast meter (Chaotix). I feel the latter three are more useful across the different modes? But again I've never played the multiplayer myself so I could absolutely be wrong!

People saying Chaotix are worst never did the races lol I know when played and Espio just goes invisible and runs past like everything, thus leaving them for opponent.. and when become visible again the team just appears next to him... I rarely did the other modes but that is my distinct memory (glad tho that Dark is last, that Team Blast is OP in multiplayer lol)

The way I see it, it comes down to Rose vs Chaotix: Rose has the better Team Blast secondary in invincibility (haven’t played enough multiplayer to know how much rings help you, though Team Blast spam with them might be a strategy), but in terms of normal control I believe they’re the worst. You don’t really feel it in single player, but I believe-or at least I have a hunch-they generally perform worse than their counterparts on other teams. Amy being the slowest Speed character if their stats differ at all, for example. I wouldn’t necessarily take anything I’m saying here at face value, granted. I never really played the multiplayer modes; by the time I unlocked the later ones there was nobody around to play with.

Mawde Wile
Aight y’all, who’s the worst team to pick in Sonic Heroes’s multiplayer? (There’s a bunch of different game modes so who would you say is worst on average?)
