🥋 5 BJJ Lessons That Are the Same in Fitness 💪

Whether you’re trying to get better on the mats or in the gym, the lessons are the same.

1. Technique over strength

In BJJ, the strongest guy doesn’t always win. The one with better technique does. Same in fitness: if your form sucks, you’re just lifting your ego. Master the movement, then add weight.

2. It’s a marathon, not a sprint

You don’t earn your blue belt in a month. It takes reps, time, and patience. Your fitness journey is no different. Crash diets and all-or-nothing plans burn out fast. Play the long game.

3. Get 1% better each day

A new submission. A cleaner deadlift. A slightly better food choice. It’s about showing up, learning, and making small improvements. Stack those wins.

4. Don’t compare your journey

Someone else’s belt, body, or bench press doesn’t define yours. Everyone’s starting from a different place. Focus on your progress, not someone else’s highlight reel.

5. Consistency is the secret

The guy who trains twice a week for 5 years beats the guy who goes all in for 2 months and quits. Same in fitness. Show up. Stay in the game. Results come to those who don’t stop.

Slow down. Master the basics. Keep showing up. 👊

100%.My 19yr old son started mma when he was 15 mostly with adults aswell with bjj involved obviously and the discipline and fitness required changed him for the better. He does that Mma 5 times a week and goes to the gym 4 times,he's on point with eating and he's just got into the fire service(his fitness level is the top 1% for somebody his age). Was all through discipline brought on by Mma/Bjj.

Would be helpful to see videos on how to train martial arts and also strength training at the same time. How do you make progress in both?

That’s what’s up. Photo with Bruno. Appreciate the post. I started my jiujitsu journey back in 2020. I really enjoyed the art. Been working out for years. Love full body workouts . It’s convenient for my work schedule
