I’ve been banging my head against the wall trying to build an animation that explains phase separation at the molecular level so that I can build on that enough to get to patterns like this. Just a relief to see other biotube folks thinking about the harder-to-illustrate ideas like this.

This amazing art by @cosmodernism shows, analogously, how Turing reactions in biology work (reaction-diffusion signaling). Reaction-diffusion signaling is one tool embryos use during development, especially when making skin coloration patterns in zebras, tropical fish, butterfly wings, and in hair or feather placement in mammals and birds.
