There's unfortunately a handful of reasons to not buy Switch2, but I think this is the dealbreaker for me.
If I understand correctly from the information I've gathered, physical copies are now physical... only in name. These "Key Cards" are codes which must be redeemed, so that you may download the game. This just might be the first time ever a home console requires an internet connection to even access "physical" copies.
One of the main reasons to buy physical is so that your hardware's storage unit won't be burdened by the game's size. For enthusiastic game collectors it can be an absolute pain, having to keep deleting games just to play a new one. Going back to the point of now needing internet access to fetch these "physicals"... Games are not as small as they used to be! If you just so happen to have crappy internet, it can take FOREVER before you even get to play your "physical" copy.
People wanting to switch over to PC or other consoles doesn't seem so farfetched right now. In addition to the ridiculous and sudden increase in prices, what Nintendo is doing right now goes against our beliefs. Until they steer the ship back in the right direction, I'm officially jumping off Nintendo of today and onwards. The future of consumers like me looks bleak... What a mighty shame.
