There's unfortunately a handful of reasons to not buy Switch2, but I think this is the dealbreaker for me.
If I understand correctly from the information I've gathered, physical copies are now physical... only in name. These "Key Cards" are codes which must be redeemed, so that you may download the game. This just might be the first time ever a home console requires an internet connection to even access "physical" copies.
One of the main reasons to buy physical is so that your hardware's storage unit won't be burdened by the game's size. For enthusiastic game collectors it can be an absolute pain, having to keep deleting games just to play a new one. Going back to the point of now needing internet access to fetch these "physicals"... Games are not as small as they used to be! If you just so happen to have crappy internet, it can take FOREVER before you even get to play your "physical" copy.
People wanting to switch over to PC or other consoles doesn't seem so farfetched right now. In addition to the ridiculous and sudden increase in prices, what Nintendo is doing right now goes against our beliefs. Until they steer the ship back in the right direction, I'm officially jumping off Nintendo of today and onwards. The future of consumers like me looks bleak... What a mighty shame.

It really does annoy me seeing people say they're abandoning ship because of this. As someone who also plays/played on Xbox and Playstation, this isn't new to me. But also everyone seems to think that these Key Cards are nothing more than codes in a box. Number one, they're not. They're literally keys to play a game you download, and allow you to play the game even when you have no internet. Yes, you need it to download the game, and yes, that sucks camel spit. It's nothing new, though. If you have an Xbox One or Playstation 4 (or newer), then you'd know their discs are the same way. Except they force you to download the game onto your console period. Do you need internet for them? No. That's their only advantage though. Number two, IT'S NOT FOR EVERY GAME, AND THEY WILL NOTIFY YOU ON THE BOX IF IT IS OR NOT. This is the second biggest gripe that gets on my nerves every time I see this. If you have the game, you have the game. Will you need space to download the game? It'll tell you if your game is a Key Card game. If not, then you don't need to download jack unless it's to patch it. Number three, the price increases are happening for EVERYTHING game-related. Jump from Nintendo to PC/PS/XB? Still gotta deal with $80+ base games and having storage on your device to play it! You're still gonna be out a good chunk of money, and it's always up to you whether or not the game is worth the price of admission. If it is, you are free to directly help the company. If not? Wait. The price will go down, whether from a sale or used or what-have-you. Don't want to support Nintendo? I won't stop you. In the end, you do you. Personally I'm going to enjoy my Switch 2.
