It's sobering to think Drakeseekers were originally meant to destroy dragons, but there's also a strange comfort in how we can form bonds with them now in spite of such a dark history

I don’t know why, but the trope of giant beasts with the weapons of past defeated foes still stuck in them is super cool to me. Absolutely love this one! 🥰

The past of out profession was grim. Instead of seeking to learn, we sought to destroy. Eventually we learned from our mistakes, and began to protect the creatures we once slew mercilessly. We have to ensure we never repeat our past and return to such a dark purpose

Every time I see a new dragon I go “okay surely THIS one is the final boss” and I’m always wrong

Man that’s trippy. My day 1 drawing was a zombie dragon. Looks similar to this but with legs, less rotten and in a style leaning into Junji Ito’s style and taking after certain elements in PRIMAL’s plague of madness. Mine even has the sword in the head and arrows too Now that I think of it, this looks like it would be in the plague of madness episode

Your wings for this dragon were what I was trying to go for for my First Boss dragon. This is my favorite design so far. Amazing work!

Day Twenty-Four
There’s a dark history to Wyrett Island. For all our knowledge and advanced technology, Drakeseekers tend to forget our roots. We were not always scientists, researchers, concerned with the preservation of dragons and the greater ecosystems they balance.
The ancient crypts where bodies of slain dragons were buried en masse are a grim reminder of the Drakeseeker’s original purpose. It’s as if you can hear them, roaring in eternal anguish.
Ancient Drakeseekers used all manner of weaponry to dispose of dragon prey; lances, swords, bows and arrows, and even powerful dark magic. The latter was quickly abolished by the Drakeseekers, as more dangerous curses had unintended side effects that some say linger to this day.
A chill runs down your spine as you continue onwards. If only you could find your way out of these ruins. The world you remember feels more distant with every passing moment…
