Thank you for the reminder. Unlearning perfectionism and the fear of being seen and allowing yourself to be perceived as cringe or unlikeable is a superpower.

As a brand communication designer, I agree. People come to me asking for a logo, website or social media templates, but what I tell them is those things need to be in alignment with the substance underneath the surface. Don’t get me wrong, logos and websites are important, but they’re the tip of the iceberg. The most important thing, is to develop your perspective and create your own role on your terms. Develop your perspective through researching and writing and process it creating your own unique way of doing things. Start working with people to understand your role. It takes time and it’s a climb. When you’ve gotten clearer on the unique role you have, what your unique way of working is, and what your brand means (this is different than logo or colors- it’s the metaphors, archetypes, story, feelings, behavior, vibe) then the logo, website and other visible aspects of your business will make sense to take form. TL;DR Focus on substance and surface will emerge.

How to get people to know you exist:
- Don't worry about your logo
- Don't worry about your LLC
- Don't worry about your website
Don't worry about anything that isn't directly related to getting your first customer.
The most important things for getting your first customer:
- Be above average at a skill or domain of knowledge
- Start conversations with people on social media (replies, DMs, etc - just make friends)
- Write content around pain points and desired outcomes (avoid fortune cookie philosophy until you have a massive audience)
It can be that simple.
The amount of people who know what you do + how good you are at that thing X time in the game = very difficult to not make money doing what you enjoy.
