Glad to see I’m not the only one still having VHS tapes still. Sadly it’s just another artifact of the technology era that has been phased out these days due to digital copies people can get on their new electronic devices these days through streaming services, etc… However I can’t say the last time I saw someone using a tape to record something. I still record with my VCR but very infrequently now. Like many people I used my VCR daily well into the mid-2000’s but now I can’t remember the last time I did so. When I decided to cut the cord about 5 years ago and just go to free OTA TV I thought I would finally loose the ability to record but the guy that I had install my antenna in the attic told me I could still do it with an external tuner so I bought a Channel Master unit. When I was still subscribing to satellite television they offered me a free DVR multiple times and I always said “No Thanks, I prefer my VCR.” I’m not looking forward to the new 3.0 broadcasts or when my old Sony LCD television from 2009 with all the component connections dies. That may finally spell the end of recording with my VCR. I have an HDMI to component cable ready to use if and when I need it but I’m not sure how many I would actually need to run my current set-up if the tuner would even work with 3.0 which I doubt. At least I could still watch VHS tapes with that.
