Activist Witch🔮Ysha

Just resharing since people platform Angela Puca uncritically despite knowing the stuff she's done to Trans People and people of colour, such as hosting cultural appropriation panels only featuring white people.

Why is this bad? Let's see:

1) Angela has been told repeatedly by trans people (including myself) about the damage her publicity of Harry Potter does to the trans community. Every time she shrugged and worse, gaslit us telling us what damages and what doesn't, showing that given the choice not only she doesn't listen to trans people, but also she will choose entertainment and literally promoting a franchise where every penny goes to anti trans lobbies as declared by the HP author, JK Rowling.
And let's be clear: she doesn't need to promote HP, it has nothing to do with her work, which means she'd lose NOTHING from stopping. It's even more insulting when it would cost her nothing, she just decided to die on this hill.

2) Angela has hosted panels about cultural appropriation featuring only white people. Why is that bad? Well why would it be bad to host a panel on why Palestine needs freedom and how to achieve it featuring Only Israeli settlers? There. Rumour has it she did reach out to POCs for that panel and they all refused. Now, as a white person, if you want to talk about colonial issues and no person of colour trusts you enough to want to be associated with you, maybe you should reflect as to why and realise you are not the right person to host such an event. But we have seen how Angela lacks ability for self reflection and feels entitled to anything, trying to shut people up throwing around questionable academic titles so...

Just keep this in mind when you decide to give your time and attention to people, make I formed decisions about who you support.

I was once at a screening of a film about a famous black civil rights figure and there was a panel discussion following it where there were people of colour and white people but not one specifically black person. Right from the start of the q&a black people from various areas in the audience pointed this problem out in front of the audience and challenged the panel on it. They said that they had invited black people onto the panel but unfortunately they'd not managed to secure anyone for it. I really liked what one of the people challenging them in the audience said next - well in which case it would have been better to invite a black person off the street to join the screening and panel than run with what you have. The planned Q&A basically got wrapped up and replaced with a live impromptu critical feedback session and I thought that was a shame for the black people in the audience having to complain on the night of something they were probably looking forward to but it was also instructive to everyone present about how the event organiser missed the mark. That was more important given the circumstances than the q&a going ahead as planned

Thank you for talking about this, I didn't know any of this, I unsubscribed after seeing ai "art" thumbnails and now I'm so glad I did it. Difficult times bring a lot of sorrow but I'm thankful it makes it easier to find if someone is not a good person

I began to see through her when she hosted a lecture with a white woman talking about indigenous people as an expert. I couldn’t help but notice how incredibly white washed her community is and her views on cultural appropriation alongside said community was well…unfollow

While this should be shocking, I'm honestly not surprised. I unfollowed her about a year and a half ago when I saw that she had done a video about Hoodoo and Voodoo, and the comments section had filled with actual practitioners telling her she had gotten some information wrong. Worst of all, when people pointed out that it's a closed practice, she actually argued with them about it! Disappointing to be sure, but I just couldn't trust her after that.
