I kid, of course. (or do i?!?) But seeing as I have now been making YouTube content for over 10 years though very sporadically, I thought now is the best time to have a little talk about it.
In September of 2013 I uploaded my first corruptions video onto YouTube, Pokemon Blue Corruptions, at the time I was living in France with my parents, who had decided to retire out there. I had no real life prospects at the time with the exception of a love for video games and online content.
After hearing about the Vinesauce channel and his corruptions videos, it inspired me to try messing with the VSRC myself, which is how the idea of recording it all with FRAPS came along mostly because I wanted to capture what I had discovered and share it with others. I may have only been 18 at the time but that doesn't mean I was an idiot, I never expected the video to gain any traction, and it didn't. It gained a couple views after a few days, but those few comments and responses it slowly got inspired me to continue messing with VSRC and other games. The rest is history really.
As things evolved and the channel grew, I met more and more great people in this community, Ircluzar, the creator of the RTC (The modern all encompassing corruptor). Killysunt, the man with the least subtle name and the funny accent. Among many others in this community, who have grown into true friends. People I still speak to regularly if not daily.
To say this YouTube journey has had a large impact on my life despite my still relatively small channel and volatile upload schedule, would be an understatement. For the longest while before leaving France and shortly after, this journey was my reason for getting up in the morning, not to sound cliche.
BUT WHERE THE F HAVE YOU BEEN?!?!?
So what the f has been happening in the last 3 years, well, quite a lot. I now work full time, have a girlfriend, a house to look after, adult responsibilities. Adult problems. With plans to start a family in the coming years, I have been busy. But that's not to say I have been too busy to stream and make content, I have had time. I've just not used it here, I am not going to vow here that this will ever change, I absolutely love making videos and streaming, but I will only do it when I want to, I am in an advantageous position in a way because I don't rely on this for my income and never have.
I consider myself incredibly lucky to still have this channel and this small following, and I thank each and every one of you who is sticking around, even though content is rare. I only ever expected to get out of this what I put in and I've been slacking, both in my streaming and in videos and for that I can only apologise, It's no secret that a lot of creators aren't proud of what they make and I'm no different, when I look at my old videos I only see flaws and how they could have been better. But regardless, I am still grateful, even if I don't show up often to show it.
