It’s annoying how they keep mentioning Dire Wolves in the context of GoT and not real life. Not a single mention of the La Brea tar pits where hundreds of them have been excavated.

Every time someone shares that picture of GRRM holding the cubs or them on the Iron Throne prop, or that recent twitter post that incorrectly quotes that "wolves don't consider the opinions of sheep" (way to show you're fans of the franchise, huh?) I die on the inside and I'm reminded any supposed goodwill this project can do is immediately thrown out the window because I see those photos and I'm reminded of what it is: A dishonest publicity stunt meant to garner ad revenue.

They do have their genuine reasons for making wooly mammoths out of aisan elephants though. They aren't completely corrupt.

The science community can be sooo bitter. They hold back so many breakthroughs from having big egos, unfortunately.

Good day folks, these past few days have certainly been *interesting*, to say the least.
It's reassuring to see that pretty much the whole natural sciences community not employed at Colossal, from geneticists to taxonomists to palaeontologists, is united in agreement that these aren't real dire wolves. It's also good to see some scrutiny & scepticism regarding Colossal's claims finally starting to break into the broader news media. Better late than never I suppose, but the response in the meantime has been equal parts fascinating & migraine-inducing.
Seeing such flagrant dishonesty from a private, venture capital enterprise being so widely accepted & celebrated, when the same people, who pride themselves on their 'scepticism', use dishonesty & financial gain as reasons to distrust legitimate scientific work is an astonishing case of cognitive dissonance. To say nothing of the hostility being thrown at the science communicators who are pointing out the lies, rather than the company spreading the lies.
I'm going to resist the urge to engage further with this topic online for a bit (my head can only take so much annoyance), but it won't be the last word from me. I've recieved some VERY interesting emails.
