As a Gen Xer who used to save my $2 for lunch every day so that I would have $10 on Friday to buy an extra record or cassette, I kind of understand the sentiment, but the model of music distribution has been changed forever and streaming media is just more convenient than buying physical copies. There are still some must have albums, but Oasis hasn’t released one since the 90’s, so….

If only the movie model would work for music. In that you have to pay to watch and after a while it becomes available to stream with a subscription. Except music is incredibly easy to leak. So artists seem to give in and just release the music under their name for free on day 1.
