Did you know that newly hatched axolotls, hungry for their first meal, will sometimes snack on their siblings’ limbs? No need to worry—they grow back!

There’s a great book called “The Body Electric” that goes into great detail on how axotl, salamanders, hydras and other species can regenerate lost limbs. It’s fascinating science.

What and how to feed baby axolotls? Newly hatched axolotls should be fed live brine shrimp. Due to their size, it is essential to use live brine shrimp instead of frozen. Feed them two to three times per day for the first few weeks. and be sure to clean any leftovers. One full, they will have a bright orange belly.
