I remember teaching 4th graders the roots for polygons, tri (3), quad (4) sept (7), Oct (8) Non (9) Dec (10) and asked my favorite math question, "What do you see, what do you notice?"
My 4th graders instantly made the connection to the months on the calendar. They wanted to know why the roots didn't match the order of the months on the calendar. I love when kids ask questions like this because we get to have great discussions. There is a reason why the order changed and you can check out our YouTube Channel to learn more.
