Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

🔹 ❛In it (i.e. Ramadan), Allah has a night which is better than a thousand months; whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived.❜ 【Sunan an-Nasa'i 2106】

He ﷺ dispraised those who don’t take Laylatul-Qadr seriously, who don’t put the effort towards it. We can’t make up for Laylatul-Qadr — imagine losing a night, where doing one single khayr is worth better than 83 years! And remember, too, that Laylatul-Qadr is a night that can change our entire past and future.

🔸 Regarding one’s past, the Prophet ﷺ said: ❛Whoever spends the night of Laylatul-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.❜ 【Sunan an-Nasa'i 5027 | Graded Sahih】

All of one’s previous sins and dark past are forgiven forever. But if he oppresses someone without attempting to return the rights he took, then this is a very serious matter that needs fixing first before one can benefit from Laylatul-Qadr. Always make sure we cover our obligations, before focusing on the voluntary deeds.

🔸Regarding one’s future, Allah says: ❛On that night (i.e. Laylatul-Qadr) every matter of wisdom is ordained.❜ 【Surah ad-Dukhan 44:44】

Imam Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the decrees of the coming year are ordained on Laylatul-Qadr. Meaning, whatever happens to us next year, e.g. whoever is going for Hajj / getting married / cured of his illness next year / etc, is written on that night. So make du’a to Allah to decree only what is good for us, because Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

🔸 ❛Nothing repels the divine decree but supplication.❜ 【Sunan at-Tirmidhi 2139 | Graded Fair by Sh. al-Albani rahimahullah】

May Allah allow us to witness Laylatul-Qadr and accept from all of us.

Ya Rabbi, all eternal praise, thanks and glory are due to You. Owner of the best names and attributes, purify our hearts and instill these in us in every aspect of our lives and in every stage of our journey. Decree a life for us of holy redemption - a book handed in our right hand full of magnificent deeds, hard work and transformation - all to please You - submission and dedication - gift us with Your Company in Al Firdeus beyond every constellation. You are al Afuw, You love forgiveness and love to forgive... Ya Rabbi, so forgive me and everyone from my family. Write out the most beautiful destiny, with all Your miracles and blessings - seen and unseen - nothing like ever before has ever come to being. Make us from amongst the sabiqun in every way - drive us to worship You night and day, and return to You no matter how far we go astray, and repent often correcting our character and conduct without delay. Decree a life full of ibadah that pleases You most, a life that designs its own grave as the perfect temporary host. Aid us in answering the 3 questions that determine our akhira's destiny, and provide me in the barzakh the most noble company. Establish a friendship bewteen us and Your Quran - to love, act upon and understand - a friendship so tight, one for eternal comfort and delight. Nourish our love and respect for our prophets, peace and blessings upon them each - a mind full of their lessons, appreciation for their actions and their speech, and a gratitude so proufound as a result of their sacrifices, goals we set out inspired by them to reach. Open the doors of salah like a home we run to seeking refuge and peace - Ya Rabbi, nourish us to forever increase. Infuse in us Your tranquility as we pray, let our tears flow when we rejoice and when we frown, and embrace us fully as Your Majesty, in the last third of the night, comes down. No one and nothing can compare to You - everything You are and everything You do, pure and true! What a King to fully submit to! Forgive us for taking You and Your blessings for granted... Forgive us for all of our sins, the first ones and the last ones, the major and the minor, the ones we know of and the ones we don't, the ones we performed publicly and the ones we did in private - we do not transgress against You out of defiance or rebellion, but out of mere weakness. You know us best, love us most and are the Only One who can forgive our faults. Strip away from me everything that displeases You, everything that hurts me, and everything that causes me grief, anger, anxiety and despair - erradicate the traits in me that do not serve me, my loved ones or humanity - transform me to what and the way You have taught us to be, and replace my mistakes and shortcommings with the qualities and the characteristics of Your prophets (peace be upon them all) and Your most beloved female servants (may You be pleased with them always)... Ya Rabbi, love me in the special way You love them, not because I deserve it (because I don't) but because Your Love is the light in my soul and the warmth in my heart - to You there is no end and no start. Place a unique love in my heart just for You, and nurture in my heart a special appreciation and understanding of what You decree for me - and forever keep shaitaan and his followers away from the ummah and every member of my family. You have witnessed how my heart has grown, fallen, made mistakes, hurt, and has wrongfully yearned for the love of others - I know and I recognize that the only Love I need is Yours ♡ Help me process this in a way that reflects Your Mercy upon me, and allow me to pursue it with worship and gratitude that will make You proud. May You always keep me on Your Path and close to You in the manner You honored Your chosen ones. Install Your names and attributes in our hearts and bring them to life throughout ours. Provide me with the friendship of the One that came down with the Quran, the One who aided the prophets and the One we want to stand with on Laylatul Qadr hand in hand. Allow me to become friends with those whom we learn about and take as examples from the Quran, the Seerah, all the stories from the greatest of people that You brought nearer. Place me in the company of righteous people that glorify You properly, as You have ordained and prescribed - grant me and my family the community of true ummah bliss, and from fulfilling Your rights do not allow me to miss. Heal us inside out, and empower us beautifully without any doubt - perform Your Miracles throughtout our lives gracefully and let us die being committed to You fully ♡ Gift us with an akhira in the purest of forms - open every possibility of goodness for us from all 8 of Your gates, every day of our lives, in death and what next awaits. Don't deprive me nor my descendants from answering Your call, for it is Your company that we yearn for most of all. Let us see You, Your Majesty - and upon our return please welcome us lovingly. Pull us into bliss and comfort with what You know for us is best and let us enjoy the company of Your awliya who have passed on already while we rest. Ya Rabbi ♡ Aameen
