Shel's Colouring Journey

Hi Guys,

Hope you are all having a lovely Easter weekend!

I had a quick question for you all regarding the colouralongs I share….seeing my schedule doesn’t allow me to get many colouralongs recorded for the channel, would you guys like a full book colouralong/project book recorded as colouralongs on the channel or carry on the way I do with random books. So more pages get done in a particular book or pages done it’s separate books.

I understand not everyone has a the books that I share on the channel, so it would be interesting to see what you would prefer.

Look forward to seeing what you think! 🖍💗

I like the way you have your color along from different books. I enjoy watching as you make a page come to life with your coloring style and every time I watch them I’m left fascinated by how they turn out. And I’m of the mind to color what inspires you, which is why I love that you color in different illustrations because not every single page in one book might inspire you enough to color that page so it would make it harder.

Hi Shel, I think it’s best to do whatever is enjoyable/easy for you ❤️ now that I have a YouTube channel myself I know how hard it is to be all things for all people…..I don’t always have the book or medium people want (and don’t always have the funds or desire to buy them) but there are plenty of channels offering all sorts now that we can usually find what we need. I think it really shows when you are doing something you love doing 😊 Hope you and your family are having a lovely Easter weekend, Jacki

Hello Shelly. Do what feels good to you. As you always say: you are a mood colorist. A project book would box you in. And it may take the pleasure out of coloring. And I don't want that for you. I want you to show up as your best self for you, your family, and your channel. I like that you do several different books as a color-along. I usually buy the books that you have if I really like them. But, what I have also learned from your tutorials is: If I don't have that specific book, I can still use the knowledge in another book. Hope that helps. Happy Coloring. ❤️

Happy Easter :) I love seeing your creativity with different books, even if I don't have them. But a project book to have throughout the year is also a good idea, it'll help you finish a book in your collection 😁

I would absolutely adore one book being completed! The fact that I can follow and purchase one book makes financial sense, as I love your color alongs so very much!❤️❤️❤️

Happy Easter to you and your family as well! It’s really whatever you like to do. I really enjoy you spinning for the pages and books. I love that part of it and I know you do as well because we can hear it in your voice as the random generator is picking. So I would hate to lose that. So I guess I will vote to keep it as you have been doing it, but again. It’s totally whatever you want to do is fine with me. I will watch you no matter what.. 🐣🌷

Happy Easter. :) Looks like different books is winning the race - which is fine with me. :D However, you could do a mix of both. Have a project book that you come back to maybe once a quarter while working in different books the rest of the time. Though the most important thing is that you are enjoying what you're doing. My feeling is that you may find it limiting to focus on one book. (I can be totally wrong of course.) Do what feels right for you. 🥰

I have a lot of Kerby Rosanes books, so I’d love to see more color alongs with his work. Rita Berman is next. 😉

I do not have the fc albrecht durer pencil set. If you used prismacolors I could follow along more often.

A variety of books. Although not always using the Albecht Durers because a lot of people don’t have them even though I know it’s your go to. Preferably polychromes or prismacolor or other non-water-based pencils.

I love seeing how you tackle different types of illustrations, different types of paper and different art styles. I have recently followed your coloralong for a "Floating market" in "Meine Reise durch Asien" and I feel like I have learned a lot from you. I'm really grateful for what you do 🩷
