This paap punya thing really frustrate me. Hindus today have become so weak, mentally and physically. We always rely on corrupt administration to give us justice, we only wait for divine intervention without taking any responsibility for the paap around us. We are always afraid of getting hurt and run after moksha, which honestly feels like escapism. Always remember, the biggest sin is being weak. A weak person has no authority over his/her own life and cannot uphold Dharma. He/she can be swayed in any direction since they have no strength to defend their ideals. Weakness is death but strength is life. Be strong

What does visiting a local temple give that our home Pooja room doesn’t? What does Kshethra Darshan give that a local temple doesn’t? What does a special pilgrimage like a Jyotirlinga Yatra or Char Dham Yatra give? What does a Guru give? What does Ganga Darshan and a dip offer on normal days, special days, or during Kumbh, Mahakumbh, or Pushkaralu? All these are ways to easily connect with higher spiritual vibrations. If our inner frequency already matches the required spiritual vibrations, we don’t need anything but turning inwards. Someone who observes Deeksha, Upavas, and prepares themselves to receive these energies will have a deeper connect with the divine than someone who just drops by for the hype of it. When this connect happens, we naturally turn towards Dharma, thus our Paap (accumulated negative karma) starts reducing. If our Gurus explained all this openly today, hardly anyone would listen. So they say whatever will at least get people to go, because no one knows when or how someone’s inner spark might awaken. So, does a Ganga dip remove Paap? Yes ! when the person is ready to truly receive what the Ganga offers

Sri Ramakrishna gives a wise parable. When you take a dip in the holy Ganga all your sins sit at the bank of Ganga not being able to hold on to you but when you come out of the river all those sins jump right back at you.

"Transactional blind faith"...this will stay in my consciousness. Whenever I travel to Bharat the cognitive disonance between faith vs behavior strikes me really hard. The answer is that transactional aspect that does not translate in the transformation of deep rooted vasanas. It takes way more than a dip in Ganga Ma.

Exactly it's a symbolic action prescribed by ancient sadhu sanyasi to bestow faith , be aware of paap and punya , and respect the nature due to which we sustain life in earth.

@ ProjectShivoham, I believe that you have rightly articulated! It is clear that punya acquired will not eliminate sins. You will get the consequences for both. Sukha (Iha or para) and punishment for sins separately. Chances are there the severity or intensity of punishment might reduced based on the knowledge (gnaana) you have gained and your personality is modified and retained that learnings (not just showcasing to outer world). Still you are good take dip but it is not fully eradicate sins. This is my understanding. Feel free to correct.

Paap punya concepts were made for common folks, karmic residue is more appropriate according to yogic terminologies. It's all nature and its laws.

The Gangā snāna has nothing to do with pāpa puñya, but probably had to do with intellectual and social gatherings from around the globe, to expand knowledge and to reject discrimination and untouchability.

Taking bath in maa ganga for several days along with following austerity of food speech and thought is supposed to clean biomemory.what it means the patterns one is carrying from past life like anger, addiction, fear which one has tried to let go but has failed will be healed with comparative ly less efforts and person can experience bit elevated consciousness. If one does this act mindfully and ready to heal and work one self.

Its in psychology, a person who needs a fresh begining is given hope by telling that his sins are gone if he takes a dip in ganga. Or its like a poet describing a lady's face as moon. Its just a metaphorical thing

As ny opinion: The sins that got destroyed are those who are non made with bad intent. Like when we walk we kill many insects. Like if we go to some play and accidentally hit a dog. These sins count but can be removed by doing Prayashchit. And Ganga Snan, Teerthatan, etc are some examples of Prayashchit. But if you killed someone innocent and then go to Ganga to remove your Sin. You are mistaken. Because Karma always returns. It doesn't get destroyed easily.

Ganga has the power to wash your sins PROVIDED you have realised and repented for your Known sins committed by you and take a path for yourself that you will not repeat them . Then the karmic impact of that sins will be reduced or eliminated with divine grace . But just by taking a dip will not . No easy way out from Karma . Realisation/ repentance and resolution only will get support from grace .

I think Sh. Sita Ramji Bhakti or any holy dip iff performed with complete surrender and dedication gives strength to face all the storms of consequences... We start believing ye to hoga hi... Bas mujhe dhairya dharan karna hai... Aur kuch galat nhi karna hai! That's it. This is important to understand the blind faith and inner spiritual strength for all the storms. That's it. Jai Shree Sita Ram ❤

Exactly my point. This transactional blind faith is prevalent in Northern parts of India and people don't really care about their karmas only judge other people's actions.
