NEW: A loophole in FDA regulations in making us sick.

The FDA allows companies to independently determine whether certain ingredients are safe. That’s reviewed by a panel… which has 100% conflict of interest in the outcome.

One approved ingredient sent 39 people to the ER.

@PEC9905

We need to do what they do in Australia, politicians are not allowed to lie, and no one can spend more than $20k on their campaign. It would change EVERYTHING in the USA.

The solution to this bs shouldn't be "just don't eat processed foods" it should be "we should start holding these ppl in legislation accountable for risking our safety at every turn." Some ppl have to work to struggle and survive and don't have time to cook every single day or meal prep, and that's their business, but the response to this disturbing message shouldn't be to knock down your fellow civilians, but to question the people in charge.

And Trump wonders with Europeans don't buy US food... Yeah, exactly for that reason.

In the EU only 320 additives are allowed. After they have been proven to be non problematic. And regional rules like for wine, cheese and German beer can be more strict. A government white list is the only starting point for this.

Thanks Elon, and Trump for getting rid of all regulations so we can go back to getting horribly sick from food and not be able to trust anything

Man, who would’ve guessed that private corporations that solely exist to maximize profits would put cheap, harmful junk in our food so it saves them a nickel?

People were getting very sick before The Pure Food and Drugs Act (1906). It prohibited interstate commerce in adulterated and misbranded food and drugs. Now, it looks like we're back to the same old crap ☹️ I hate that people and society are devolving instead of working towards a better future.

These companies need to be made to test their OWN products on THEMSELVES before the public has access

It kind of sucks that while Americans are starting to wake up to how bad our food is, the main response is to vote in a guy who appointed a tinfoil hat type whose brain was eaten by worms. Like, why is it so fucking hard to just have a reasonable adult?

@JesusPerez-b6i

The FDA should force food companies to put warning labels on their products if there are ingredients that cause harm to humans i.e. Alzheimer's, cancer etc. they refuse to ban the ingredients but let's see how much money they loose when people see what they are ingesting and the possible outcomes for their health

Our food is just one of many industries that are increasingly self regulated. Plane construction, some OTC meds , railroad maintenance and safety and many more .

Sounds like the old gop talking point "companies can regulate themselves"

Weird, it’s almost as if our system is capitalism that works for the corporations, but not the people. But of course, our own apathy toward politics is to blame. If more people paid attention and gave a $hit we might not be in the mess we’re in. But alas, the NFL is on and I have beer to drink!! ‘Murica!!! 🤦🏻‍

If we had healthy food we wouldn't have to hand most of our income to the health care/pharmaceutical industry.

As an American, I’ve known and many of us have, we try to spread the message and get labeled as conspiracy theorists or some sort of hippy. It’s ridiculous how many Americans mindsets seem to be stuck in the 40s. Younger people have been the hope for better future but gen z was the last real hope left. With tech on the rise they nerfed are biggest chance. Now we must pick up pieces one by one to create a better future. We still have gen z to thank for many of these movements, thank you to the older generations who worked hard to spread their knowledge and secrets to try and salvage the folk who do want to forge a better future. The people in power embarrass us as a country. They have used us all and are now trying to discard us one by one by each minority group working from the ones they hate most up to ones they had tolerated but feel they no longer should or have to. Many good people are already leaving the country to find a country that will have them and make them feel like a human being who has rights. I was blessed to understand these things regardless of how many tried to wash it out my mind, I often want to run away but know I have no choice but to stay back and fight. In the end most Americans want the same as everyone else, a country that cares about its citizens. By no means am I religious by lately I’ve been praying for gods blessings. Thank you to the countries who have been fighting for us, spreading the news and educating others. Regardless of borders, any sea, war, famine, and more we as people are connected and always will stay connected.
