My community posts are finally back, so now I can properly fill you guys in on the situation.
I’ve seen a lot of you asking, what’s happened to my channel? The answer being:
Back at the start of May, my PC was hacked by crypto-scammers. Seemingly through some Antivirus software, ironically. That I thought I’d safely unsubscribed from, and removed. I’m pretty knowledgeable in IT, and have dealt with plenty of nasty stuff in the past. It’s crazy how many attempts there have been over time, trying to take my “small” channel. Some even outright offering to buy it.
Anyway, said crypto bastards, managed to get into most of my drives, and mirror my screen. In an attempt to steal personal information, or just mess stuff up. Resulting in them getting my YouTube login, along with my channel. They then promptly started a livestream, leading to YouTube removing the channel, and all its content.
That being the only action in all of this, that YouTube took. I had multiple security options set on my account, thinking it should’ve been safe from something like this happening. But no, the Hackers just walked on in, changed what was needed, no questions asked. With YouTube making no attempt to notify me of suspicious activity. I found out an hour later, when people started messaging me on an entirely different platform. By which time, it was too late.
I’ve contacted YouTube multiple times since this all happened, to no avail. I guess my channel didn’t make enough money, for them to be concerned. I’m truly disgusted at how this platform treats its smaller creators, along with what it has become. If it weren’t for how much my videos mean to people, I would’ve quit it entirely.
It’s absolutely crushing to see over ten years of work, deleted before your eyes. But I’m amazed at how kind people have been, helping to recover videos, and get the channel back up and running again. This, and the words of encouragement, have meant a lot.
It’s been a tough past year, or so, hence why the amount content has been scarce. With this just being the turd, to top the multi-tier, shit cake. But now, I’m hoping to start uploading/re-uploading again. Getting this channel back on its feet.
Because you’ve all proven, I can’t give up on it. And I can’t thank you enough for that.
