It feels like you have always avoided commenting on information that is either irrelevant or inadequate, and I appreciate it.

I'm told long ago they hired writers to create vivid creatures. Is it true, oh sage?

The stat blocks are better than 2014. Both the power balance and the interesting game mechanics. Especially high CR creatures which can be used in a 2014 campaign as written. But the lore is low quality and often contradicts what existed in the past for no apparent reason.

I’ve heard a review of it that is essentially said that there are more monsters crammed into it, but less lore per monster. I’ve also heard it mentioned that monsters can’t just be one gender and humans don’t have unique entries, but I rather listed as more generic and PCs in the back of the book. This makes the product different. I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily very much worse, but it’s definitely different. From your perspective as a lore guy, I can see why you hate it.

TL;DR: It's pretty barren in terms of lore. What else is there for a lore-channel to say? 🤷♂

This will be the first edition of D&D that I have zero interest in purchasing or playing. Says a lot about the current license holders, rather than the game itself. I already have everything that I need to play the game that I love.

If you are waiting for a review of the new Dungeons and Dragons 2024 monster manual from me... don't bother, I don't do negative reviews. That should tell you all you need to know from me on the topic.
