If he reached out to the orangutan he might get his arm jerked out of socket by accident, that's a very strong critter.

He’s like, “get out of there. It’s full of snakes” and the guys like, “wait, lemme get these snakes out for you”. I love that.

Orangutans are so much in danger in my country. Indonesian goverment put zero attention to local orangutan's habitat. The gov themself kept destroying our huge rainforest and turn them into massive palm oil plantation. Even locals killed so many orangutans cause they are considered as pests to the plantation 💔💔💔 we, the whole indonesians failed these wonderful orangutan

The event reportedly took place in 2019 in Borneo, where a conservation worker named Anil Prabhakar captured the moment. The man was working for the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation, clearing snakes from a river to make it safe for orangutans. The orangutan, misunderstanding the situation, extended its hand to help the man out of the water, showing a remarkable display of empathy. Prabhakar's photograph and account have been covered by credible outlets like National Geographic and BBC, supporting the story's authenticity.

Altruism competitions are some of the most adorable interactions to see, especially when one of the involved parties isn't human.

Much respect for the people who volunteered to protect endangered species, many of them even used their own hard earned money
