So mind blowingly ridiculous. I submitted a comment. I will be extremely angry if I was suddenly unable to buy neodymium magnets off KJ Magnetics because the clowns in office just say “magnet bad.” I take stuff like this as personally insulting to my intelligence.

Would that be the Beady brightly colored ones? They'd have to change colouring too because they are flashy and are more likely to attract kids. Maybe use more dull colours too.

XD

This regulation has the potential to put many companies that rely on selling magnet products like speks, digitdots, other toys featured on magnetic games, and maybe even suppliers like k & j magnetics and supermagnete.

Maybe inform parents to keep eye on what child plays with to keep them safe. Don't ban something rather inform people of dangers and blame the parents not products if child eats it and is harmed. Package warns of danger already right?

Magnetic Games
Ok guys, time for real talk.
The US Government is going to ban magnets!
Specifically, 87 FR 1260 bans all small high powered magnets except for: "research and educational products, or those intended for commercial or industrial purposes, if they are not also intended for amusement or jewelry."
In other words, even if the magnets are for educational or industrial use, they are prohibited if amusement is involved. They are literally regulating the fun out of magnets.
High powered magnets are hazardous to children because they can pinch internally if swallowed. It's true that strong magnets require more responsibility than many products. But it's entirely unsupported by data that magnets must either be banned for all ages, or result in a torrent of child injuries.
If you agree that the solution to the ingestion problem is better education through labeling, sales methods and community awareness, then here’s how you can help:
1. Spread the message. Pass some variation of the following message to every magnet youtuber you can find, and to anyone who enjoys magnet art (or even just freedom of choice):
“The US Feds are trying to BAN magnet balls, even for adults.
If you like recreational magnets, now's your chance to say something. Make sure magnet fans know before it's too late, pass it on. #LegalizeMagnets”
2. Comment directly on the ban (Due March 28) at this shortcut: safetycomment.com. You can read the full rule there, and write your own, or use some of these comments below if you want:
-The response to under-enforced toy safety laws shouldn't be to also ban recreational magnets for adults.
-Safe magnet use means informed consumers, not a non-consensual ban on recreational magnets. “
-I'm a [x] year old [student/man/woman/office worker/technoking/etc] and have no children, why exactly am I not allowed to have these magnets?
-I'm a parent, and am perfectly capable of deciding which [rooms/spaces/products] in my house are and are not for children.
-“The 2022 magnet ban is even weaker than the overturned 2015 magnet ban, as there's now no reliably sourced data on how many magnets were actually sold, the injury trends correlate with CPSC enforcement efforts (and non-efforts) more than rule promulgation, and there's an alternative voluntary standard that requires child resistant packaging and very strong warnings.”
