I just realized that the song "King and Country" by the Television Personalities must have been inspired by "Eight Miles High", the album opener of Detroit Proto-Post-Punk/Garage Psych band THE INDEX (
youtube.com/watch?v=6Qh_v_iTS7Q)... or by The Byrds, which is more likely. But those end sixties Psych Bands were one of the main influences of Dan Treacy as far as I know. Remarkable was also the "Song For Dan Treacy" (
youtube.com/watch?v=x9KLyrX9MN0) by MGMT who did a similar clever homage to a disappeared singer like Treacy did with "I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives" (
youtube.com/watch?v=V6zf7P8eTRI) in the early eighties. Sweet. That's for late Sunday Night Music Research. Nothing deep though...
