Southwest Maluku

These recordings and annotations were produced by Owen Edwards under the auspices of ELDP grant IPF0417, "Documentation of Emplawas and languages of the Babar islands", 2023-2025. The groups represented in this collection are speakers of languages of the Babar Islands (southwest Maluku, Indonesia), particularly from Emplawas village. Emplawas is an Austronesian language spoken by the members of a single village in the southern part of Babar Island (Indonesia, -8.047, 129.776). It is spoken only by the older generation.
