It takes a diverse team to keep operations aboard E/V Nautilus running smoothly. The ship can host up to 31 science team members and 17 crew members, all of whom contribute in various ways to the scientific efforts of the Corps of Explorations.
Navigators keep the ship moving safely during dives while engineers and technologists maintain and control remotely-operated vehicles (ROVs) Hercules and Argus during deep-sea exploration. During a dive, data loggers keep track of all seafloor observations and samples collected and coordinate with scientists to ensure science goals are completed. All aspects are shared with the world through our team of science communicators, educators, writers, and artists who work alongside the expedition team to tell clear and compelling stories.
