Returning to Perspectives Digital, the twin-track "Alfa Centauri / Horizons" EP also features a single remix from seasoned Greek artist, Paul Anthonee. A collaborative duo of Basque and Catalan origin, Far Distance have become an established force in the underground club environment. Almost a century of production credits is evidence of their growing profile with music signed to the likes of Dear Deer, Somatic, Highway Records, and Freegrant Music. First debuting on Darin Epsilon's imprint in 2021 alongside Stefan Addo, the "Hyperspace / Stardust" EP was a notable highlight later that year, including a remix from German star, Rauschhaus. With their music supported by the likes of Carl Cox, Solomun, and Joris Voorn, Far Distance make a powerful return with the vibrant "Alfa Centauri". A driving beat paves the way for a compelling bassline groove while sumptuous pads shimmer across the stereo spectrum. A glorious arpeggio adds spine-tingling emotion as it filters and pitches while immaculately syncopated to the percussive cadence. Pausing for breath at the stripped-back breakdown, new melodies emerge before a rousing crescendo heralds a dramatic drop into the finale. Hailing from Nicosia, Cyprus while playing his trade across the Mediterranean on the Greek mainland, Paul Anthonee has been at the forefront of the electronic music scene for more than a decade. DJing at several key events including Germany's Fusion Festival and Greece's Reworks and Bloque festivals, Paul's production career has simultaneously seen an impressive portfolio, with releases on high-profile imprints including Parquet Recordings, Beatfreak, Steyoyoke, Harabe, Paul Thomas' UV, and his very own Astral Records. Paul has been on a tear recently with playlist support from leading names in the industry including Tale of Us, Solomun, Maceo Plex, Vintage Culture, and Innellea, amongst many others. Now making his Perspectives Digital debut, Paul Anthonee’s remix of "Alfa Centauri" is a playground of strong melodic elements and commanding rhythmic force in his aptly titled "Virtual Trancer" rework. A chest-thumping kick and crisp shuffling hi-hats pave the way for an intelligent use of the themes inherent in Far Distance's original before taking them in new directions. Classic arpeggiated sounds fly across the 7 minute piece as a new earworm motif filters into sonic range. White noise infused stabs hit hard in a forceful new cadence as the track builds to new heights in the latter stages. Immediately hitting its stride with a powerful beat and panned running bassline pattern, "Horizon" blossoms with an immaculately syncopated synth phrase. Quickly taking center stage, a swathe of effects and complementary harmonies blend together in an emotive phrasing that is exemplified by a sublime breakdown passage. Heading into the second half, the powerful bass and rhythmic partnership evolves once more into a surefire club hit.
