Baby Stuck On Hands and Knees | How To Help Them Start Crawling

🎁 FREE 0–12 Month Baby Milestone Checklist: preview.mailerlite.io/forms/1795021/17644598030395… Is your baby getting up on hands and knees, rocking back and forth, but not actually crawling forward yet? In this video, I’ll show you how to help your baby crawl by practicing the specific skills that can help turn rocking on hands and knees into forward movement. As a pediatric physical therapist, I like to start where the baby already is. We’ll work on getting comfortable on hands and knees, rocking forward and backward, shifting weight from side to side, reaching for toys, and learning how to move the arms and legs forward in a more coordinated crawling pattern. You’ll see several crawling exercises you can practice with your baby, including: • Rocking on hands and knees with trunk support • Hands-and-knees weight shifting • Reaching for toys while weight bearing through one arm • Assisted crawling forward • Crawling over a parent’s leg or small obstacle • Practicing alternating arm and leg movements • Crawling up and over a slight incline These activities are designed to help a baby who is not crawling yet but can already get into the crawling position and may just need more practice with weight shifting, coordination, and moving forward. If your baby gets on hands and knees but won’t crawl, keep giving them opportunities to practice and explore movement. Some babies need help learning how to shift their body weight, move one arm or leg at a time, and feel comfortable moving out of the hands-and-knees position. 🎁 FREE 0–12 Month Baby Milestone Checklist: preview.mailerlite.io/forms/1795021/17644598030395… If you’re wondering when a crawling delay may be something to worry about, watch the next video in my Baby Crawling series.
