Glen Hansard | Live on KUTX | August 22, 2015

In memory of Glen Hansard, KUTX revisits his intimate 2015 solo acoustic session in Studio 1A. The three-song performance captures several sides of Hansard’s career: “Winning Streak,” from his 2015 solo album *Didn’t He Ramble*; “Falling Slowly,” the Academy Award-winning song he wrote and performed with Markéta Irglová for the film *Once*; and a beautifully understated rendition of “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain,” the Fred Rose standard made famous by Austin’s own Willie Nelson. Hansard began performing on the streets of Dublin as a teenager and went on to become the frontman of The Frames, one half of The Swell Season and an acclaimed solo artist. His performances were known for their emotional directness, generosity and intensity—qualities preserved in this stripped-down visit to KUTX. Recorded live at KUTX Studio 1A in Austin, Texas, on August 22, 2015.
