The Turbografx-CD was an add-on to the Turbografx 16. It was meant to expand the capabilities of the hardware and provide advanced features for time such as CD Quality audio and full motion videos. This was the first CD add-on for a home game console. Strangely it launched very close to the launch of the Turborgrafx 16 base system. That was most likely due to the cost of CD drives at the time.
