A hair transplant is a surgical procedure in which hair follicles are moved from the donor area at the back and sides of the scalp, where hair is genetically resistant to DHT, into areas that have thinned or gone bald. The transplanted follicles keep the characteristics of the donor zone, which is why they continue growing in their new position rather than falling out again. What decides whether a hair transplant looks natural? Technique matters less than planning. Hairline placement, graft angle and direction, and how density is distributed across the recipient area determine whether the result reads as hair or as surgery. The human eye detects an unnatural angle from a distance, and no amount of density corrects it afterwards. How much hair can realistically be restored? The donor area sets the ceiling. Its size and density decide how many grafts can be harvested safely, and that number has to cover both the current bald area and the hair loss still to come. A surgeon who plans only for today produces a result that stops making sense five years later. Can hair loss be treated without surgery? In early stages, often yes. Topical finasteride and minoxidil remain the foundation for preserving existing hair in androgenetic alopecia, while PRP, mesotherapy and ozone therapy support follicle function and scalp condition. Once follicles have scarred over, these treatments maintain what is left but cannot bring back what has gone.
